| First hair cut..so nervous My girl is getting her first real hair but on Friday... she's had one trim before that. She's 6 months old and i'm not sure what kind of cut i want. I just know that i DO NOT want her shaved, you see my Rylie has a little problem she has HUGE ears ... so i don't want to shave her and make her dumbo ears stand out even more, she'll be this little tiny skinny puppy with HUGGGEEE ears. I was wondering if you guys can help me out and post some pics of your dogs hair cuts so that i can have some examples of what i want done too her. I'm a little nervous cuz i've read some posts of disaster cuts, and i don't want her to have a disaster cut. Any help would be great.

| I really like Sissy in a longer puppy cut (I do it myself). Here is a recent photo. Hope it helps.

| I don't have the latest picture of Izzy, but she is 9 months old, and went her her first cut last week. We're the same as you - she hadn't even had a trim. She kinda looks like the yorkie in the previous post, just a little longer on the hair. I just told the groomer(who is awesome with yorkies) that I wanted her hair to grow long, but just to shape it up, which is exactly what she did. Shaved her ears, but left the hair around them long. She also trimmed the hair around her paws, and left the rest of her legs long, just trimmed. Just make sure to tell them not to shave her...I wouldn't even mention puppy cut, b/c they may get scissor happy! Best of luck!!

| the picture what was possted above is pretty much what Rylie looks like right now at 6 months, she has lots of fur thick but not too long, i'm nervous and don't have a clue how to get her hair cut.

| Yeah, it seems like different groomers have different ideas of what a "puppy cut" is....with sometimes disasterous results! For my puppy's first haircut, I gave her a modified "schnauzer" type thing....left the hair on her head and legs long....just basically shaved down her body. It looks REALLY cute on her! But she has a nice stocky body. My older dog I would NEVER shave down like that, b/c her body is so skinny. On her, I would never do any shorter than Sissy's cut (above).
