| What can I do with dry flaky skin Buttercup has had dry and flaky skin about 2 weeks after I got him. I know the reason that he has the dry and flaky skin was because of me being stupid and giving him a bath every 2 days, but that was before I knew any better. Please don't judge me on that Well I have been using Petsilk moisturizing shampoo from day one. I only bathe him once a week now with the same shampoo but his skin is still dry and flaky. Every time I brush his hair, the flakes start to come off. Could it be the shampoo I'm using? If so, what type of shampoo should I be using? One more question, I have had 2 people tell me that Buttercup is a female's name. Is it? It's okay to tell the truth. I won't get offended. |

| LOL... I like Buttercup so who cares if it's boy or girl...It's CUTE Both my yorkies had flaky skin from day one and i add a drizzile of olive oil each day to their food and it cleared them up in about a month or so. NOT A LOT.. just enough to give them a bit. I pour a bit on then stir around the food to coat it. it you give to much you will KNOW IT...LOL... They will have soft stools

| What kind of conditioner do you use? I heard that eggs might help. BUddy had thin hair and I have been giving him a plain scrambled egg. I use my conditoner on him and it has made a big difference in his skin.

| I have tried many many shampoos and conditioners. Most of them work on very mild cases of dry and flaky skin. However, if your pup has alot of dry and flaky skin they tend not to work very great. I had to finally go to the vet to get a special shampoo, most vets carry it or can tell you where to get it. It is called Hylit (sp?) and works great on dogs and puppies with dry and flaky skin. It actually has esential fatty acids in it to help the skin and coat. It has no soap so it won't dry out the skin or agitate your pup's eyes. It smells like oatmeal and works great!! I started using it and after just the first time of using it, I can tell the huge difference it makes. I used it on all 4 of my dogs and it helped all of them. I can't tell you enough how much it works, you just have to see it for yourself. You can also get missing link to sprinkle on your pup's food and it works great for the skin and coat too. I have also heard giving them an egg is great too!! As for the name buttercup, I myself have always thought of it as a girl's name, I have had alot of buttercups, all females. But if you really like the name, then keep the name and don't worry about it being too girlish.

Donating YT 14K Club Member | When the weather changed, we had dry, flaky skin. I went to the vet's office and got a bottle of Oatmeal/Aloe Vera shampoo. About $15 a bottle, used it and in 2 shampooings, the dry, flaky skin was gone.

| What I was calling dry flaky skin (dandruff) my vet diagnosed as seborrhea and gave us a prescription shampoo and it cleared up right away. It was mostly on his back end, tail area. As for the name Buttercup. I don't see it as being a boy or a girl, but then again I put bows in my boy's hair! |
