| how many do errands with a bigger yorkie? I wanted a small yet athletic yorkie. Well...I got the athletic part! He is an awesome dog....EVERYTHING i wanted...but...he was estimated to be 5.5lbs. At 6mos he is at 7.8lbs. The breeder says that her litters stop growing early..in fact...his litter was breaking color REALLy early. He is the same length as my other 5.5lb dog visiting us for a couple weeks...except mine has much longer legs. so my question is...how many of you take a bigger yorkie on errands?? I bought a purse and everything for him and he loves to go...but was wondering if any of you shop and do errands with a 7 or 8 lbs yorkie?? suzie |

| Lady is almost 6 pounds now and I still bring her out with me, i'm sure shes going to be a little bigger then she is now and I have no plans on leaving her home. I just carry her in the stores as long as they allow her. |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | Lex is about six or so pounds. I don't take him on errands becuase I normally have my two year old with me. I figure as long as you can handle carrying the weight around, the stores you are visitng are pet friendly and if he truly enjoys it then why not...go for it.

| I take Rio everywhere and he weighs 9lbs. When we go in stores that I have to carry him I do try and get a cart so my arm doesnt break off (he hates his carrier). But I admit that when I go with Mignon who is 3 lbs, it is alot easier, the problem is she doesnt enjoy it and he LIVES for going bye bye. |

| I still bring him He still fits in my bags and even when I brought him into the dollar store the other day with his head sticking out...no one noticed until I went to the check out...so he must look smaller then what I feel I'm carrying. I like it because I work as an independant contractor and somtimes go in and leave him with my father if I am working near there...but if I have errands to run and it is a hot day...I like knowing that I can put him in a purse type looking bag and quietly get my things done. So far no store has kicked us out but I have brought him in any stores that have food. suz |

| Topher is 10lbs and I take him just about everywhere with me. I don't believe in leaving dogs in a vehicle...especially when it's warm/hot outside...so he comes into all of my stops with me. |

| that's my point Well that's my point...I can't take him on errands because I don't want to leave him in a hot car but he needs to stay small enough that I can carry him in. I am out and about a lot and it is SO much easier that I don't have to drop him off places first and can do my errands on my way to where I am going. suz |

| Errands with my Yorkie Well I've had Scrappy for about 1.5mths now (he was 5yrs old when we got him). I take him in the car all the time and to my friends and parents house. But I haven't been brave enough to take him to the stores with me yet. We usually only take him w/us if we plan ahead our day and stuff. So don't you kinda feel like your 'sneaking' them inside, like almost youre not suposed to?! I'm dying to do it, but haven't built up the nerve yet!!! hahahah Someday soon i'm gonna though! What type of places do everyone else take their furkids? Just wondering. But he loves our 'legitimate trip into petsmart'!

| Maddie is 7 pounds and I take her lots of places in her carrier. If it is a dog friendly store, I let her stick her head out...if not, I tell her to be a good puppy and she usually just sits in there and peaks out the mesh window. 7 or 8 pounds isn't too big...heck...my kids both weighed a little over 7 pounds when they were born...and they sure seemed tiny to me! LOL

| Toki is 7-8 lbs and there is no way i can do errands with him. I can't even carry my 3 lb purse. The only time i take Toki with me is on car drives and if i have to do any other fast errands i bring he's leash. |

| I haven't used this but maybe a dog stroller would work. May save on the back!

| Evil Wee is 7lbs and if she was an only fur baby I'd probably have the doggy handbag - although we can't dogs into shops or malls in NZ so I wouldn't be able to take her to the shops - only to all the outdoor cafes. But the Weeevil is my second yorkie - Dougal is my first born yorkie and he's a whopping 14lbs so that's a big NO on the handbag for him! Unless I want shoulder muscles of steel!!

| I do most of my errands and shopping on my way home from work - when my dogs aren't with me. I very rarely take them shopping. I don't like to leave them in the car - summer or winter .... seems like it's either too hot or too cold. Unless it's a short trip (in and out) someplace. I take them with me when I visit people, etc. They're going to the lake with me this weekend -- first trip to the lake. We also do a lot of visiting with our neighbors and their dogs (daily). I have two dogs - a Yorkie and a Bichon - they either both go - or they both stay home. My Yorkie is about 10 pounds - he seems small to me. Carol Jean |
