| Puppy growth question Hey guys, Love the forum... a great resource. Have a question about my little guy's growth. I've checked the FAQ and looked at the growth chart but figured I'd throw the question out there anyway. My little guy is roughly 4.3 pounds and is 20 weeks old. By the chart it would indicate that he'll likely be about 6 pounds after 18 months. I understand that's only an estimated number, but my question is this... My little guy hasn't really gained any weight in about three weeks. Would you say that's about it for him and that he's stopped growing or could there be a pause before another potential growth spurt? I'm really hoping that he grows a little more... while having a very small dog is certainly cute, I'm 6'3" and am always scared to death that I'll inadvertantly step on him! He has that nasty little habit of being right under my feet at all times and rather than be scared of my feet, smacks my foot with his little paws to play *LOL* I love him to death and am really happy that he's healthy, I just want him to have a little more bulk. |

| Hi Unclepunk! I'll assume by your name, and your height, that you ARE indeed a male! There ARE a few proud yorkie daddies around here, but we could always use more! So WELCOME, and I'm sorry that I can't answer your question knowledgably, but my UNeducated guess would be that yes, he probably still has a growth spurt or two coming up. I'm sort of in the same boat with a little girl that I'm hoping will continue to bulk up, but unfortunately, she's almost 10 months old. Where'd you get your little guy?

| Hello and welcome to YT!!! He may have stopped growing. Trixie stopped growing right at 6 months. Scampers will be 6 months old very soon and he has not grown since for several weeks now. Some will stop at a young age and others will continue to grow until they are a year or a little bit older. Every yorkie is different so you won't know until he is an adult or close to it. Until them you just have to learn the yorkie shuffle, most of us here have learned it, less worries about stepping on your little one. Good luck with your pup and post some pictures so we can see him!!!

| There are LOTS of us guys out here that are nuts about our Yorkies! OUr Bailey was my wife's Mother's Day present from me, but she'll tell anyone that will listen that I'm the one that goes crazy over her. I know what you mean about wanting a little more size on your little guy. When we got Bailey at 8 weeks, she weighed 2 pounds. Now, at 13 weeks, she's up to 3.4. Little is fun and cute and convenient - but it's also a little scary. Even my wife, who thought she wanted a tiny Yorkie, is very happy at the prospect that Bailey will wind up somewhere around 5 1/2 pounds. |

| Hey guys, Thanks for the encouragement, much appreciated! There's hope for his continued growth. I've uploaded an avatar with my little guy, Guinness. Its a little small so I'll have to work on that. For the past two days he's been eating like a champ so we'll see where we go from here. *fingers crossed* My wife and I decided on the name Guinness for two reasons... we wanted an irish name for him and he really did look like a glass of Guinness. Mostly dark brown with a hint of golden brown at the top! Aside from the weight, I can't wait to see what color he's going to turn out to be. I've also read the color prediction posts but have no idea how to read/interpret those! Like some of you have mentioned, I'll just have to wait and see |
