Most efective flea control?

Kelsey is always itching. Every now and then I'll notice a flea on her. Not multiple ones' but one or so. I put Frontline Plus on her every month and bathe her regularly. I don't think she has a skin allergy or anything...The vet told me to get a soap free shampoo and to switch to advantage for a little while. She said it works faster for fighting fleas than Frontline? I was just wondering what everyone used and how effective it was.

I use Brewers Yeast w/Garlic. Holistic treatment for the bugs and great for skin and coat. I get a bottle of 1000 pills at Dr. Fosters.com and I give one pill a day. My dog and cat both get it and love it.

Funny because I was just speaking to a breeder friend of mine from NC and she told me she does the same and uses nothing else and has never had any bug problems.

I am thinking of going this route too- what about ticks? I live in a pretty wooded area and I am concerned that the brewers yeast/garlic won't repell ticks... do you know?

I use advantage and the only time Ive had a problem with fleas is when forgot to put it on

My breeder friend and the vet told me it works for both. The breeder lives in NC on an acre of land and her dogs (all 11) of them plus puppies never end up with any bugs.

That's great news! I think I will give it a try.
How long do you think it would take to get into their system? I just used my last does of Frontline (I love it- but it is so expensive!! Especially when putting it on 5 dogs) I am hoping to save my $50 this month...

If I remember correctly it said 3/4 days.
