My yorkie Finnigen is crazy... he's 3 months old and 3.85lbs... about 85% housetrained...and he has this problem... he licks EVERYTHING... from feet... to hands... to your shirt... to your neck/face right now he's at my feet licking my toes. If I'm laying down and he's on top of me he licks my clothing... he is crazy... he even licks chairs... I guess it's better than chewing but seriously is all this licking good for him? I dont' mind except that he gets really into it... almost like it's erotic or something... and I can't help but laugh.

My Frankie does this too.. It's cute but it does get annoying sometimes ecspecially when I'm trying to sleep and he's lickin' away.. I usually distract him with a toy and that usually works.

Our girls do the same thing...I think it is a yorkie thing...Magic and Sailor love to lick anything and everything...it can be annoying at times but we still love them...

This licking thing is the exact reason my user name is Love Bug.
That is what I call him "mommie's little love bug"
I try to think of all the licking is mommie love

As he is licking my ear right now.

Too funny that so many Yorkies, miles apart have a lot of the same characteristics.....

I think that's a Yorkie trait, both my male Artie and female Abigail do that too! Especially when he is waking us up in the morning or when he is being
scolded, after I sneeze or cough. She ends up trying to bite/nip me when while she's licking. I have a couple of friends that have Yorkies and they train them to stop doing it by saying "No kisses" they don't allow them to lick their faces, so of course they try to do it to me because they see my baby's kissing me. I don't mind them doing it beacuse I brush their teeth and mouths with peanutbutter toothpaste, which is made for dogs to whiten teeth and freshen their breath.

Hefner loves to give kisses and he has this amazing "lizard tongue"!! It's extremely long...so long that when he's tired it sticks out of his mouth because he doesn't have the energy to keep it in his mouth. When he is sleeping, his tongue is always sticking out.

My Gizmo does the same thing. Sunday when I went to pick him up from the groomer she tells me "He's something else!" Now I'm sitting there getting nervous thinking she's going to tell me he did something bad then she says.."He wouldn't stop licking me the whole time I was grooming him...my face, my hands, my shirt..He's so lovable!!" I was like

That's my Baby!! When he's in the car the only way to keep him from crying is to let him lick my fingers from the time we leave until the time we get to our destination! Must be a Yorkie trait because years ago I had a toy poodle and he wasn't into licking like Gizmo is!!

Bella does the same thing and I can't stand it!! I'm a little obsessive/compulsive with the hand washing. Luckily my 11 year old loves it and they sit there and just love eachother.
I've had it a couple of times where I was talking and holding Bella and she has licked my teeth. AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Mine do this licking thing as well but I don't mind it. I get it up the nose sometimes too

It's weird how I have adapted to their ways. I used to think it was gross when a dog licked someones face but now I feel totally different. Mine don't do it bad, just when they want love and attention so we give it to them and let them give it right back. If I ask them to lick my feet they each get a foot and lick right away. I think it's cute and kind of funny

SoCalYorkiLvr, your pic is priceless!!! I have one too! My daughter took this one night cause Bo was so tuckered out he didn't even bother to put his tongue in!! They DO have lizard tongues!! When he was a baby we'd pick him up and he'd just look at us with the little tip of his tongue sticking out and it just charmed our socks off! And yeah, Bo licks too, a lot.

Romeo is a lick-a-holic too, but only to my boyfriend and my dad. As soon had they pick him up he goes straight for their face. He licks them like crazy and I think that he would never stop if they would let him keep going. He sleeps in between me and my boyfriend at night, and even though I am the one who gets up w/ him every morning, as soon as he wakes up (about 6:30 am) he still goes straight to my boyfriend to wake him up by licking him in the ears, in the nose, on the mouth.....he goes nuts!!!!

Oh....I forgot one other funny thing he does. If Romeo is really tired he will sit on my lap and lick my leg or my arm until he falls asleep.

Was your Gizmo born in Missouri. and was his Dad's name Gizmo? Also is he 6 months old today? If so I have his brother.

I was so excited that I may have found my Jack's brother I forgot to add about the licking.
Jack is also a lic-a-holic. He usually licks and licks before he falls asleep, he will lick until you take your hand away, then he just sighs and goes right off into lala land. One thing though is if he wakes up and wants to go potty and my husband's feet are out of the covers he will lick between his toes, and it drives my hubby nuts. Needless to say he gets up to take him to pee pee.
Ain"t it grand, they are so much fun.
