Lola will be about 7 months and three weeks old before her spay appointment. I am nervous that she have her first heat before this. I was wondering how old most yorkies are their first time. Also I was wondering if the smaller yorkies tend to go into heat later. Any advice would be appreciated.

Cali went into heat at 8 1/2 months she is 4 lbs. I ended up having to have her spayed while in heat because they thought she may have an intestinal blockage. Hopefully Lola won't go into heat before.

It really depends on the individual girl. I had a girl go to her first heat at 7 months and another girl almost at a year old. I know my vet suggest getting a female spayed after her first heat.

My Emilee weighs 5 lb 11 ozs and didn't have her first heat until she was 17 months old. So far Gidget (weighs 4 lbs 14 ozs) hasn't had her first yet. I think from what I've read, they go at all different times. but most between 8 -12 months. Is this correct?

Chelsey went into heat at 8,5 months. Chanel had just turned 1 year.

Baby went into heat at 8 months. She weighs between 3.5 to 4 pounds.

Twinkie went into heat for the first time at 13 months old but I just figured she was so late because she only weighs about 2 3/4 lbs. My chi went into heat at 11 months old, so I guess it just depends on the dog, not necessarily the size.

My girls are 9 and 7 months and have not had their first heat! I think they are like humans you just never know when it will happen!

Tonee went in between 7 and 8 months her first time. Her second was 6 months later.

My Mia was about 9 months old, she is 1 year old tommorow. She is only 4 pounds, I am so afraid about getting her spayed. I want to but she is so afraid when I take her to the vet to be groomed I am so afraid she will be so nervous.

Brandy was 19 months old when she had her first heat. Shes almost 6 lbs, although I don't think size has anything to do with it.

They are a lot like us....some dont go into heat @ all...just like some Women
so that would mean no babies

Minnie went into heat @ 6mths old.....I dont think size has anything to do with it though....Minnie was 4lb...seeing how you asked
