I have to leave my baby on his birthday...

My sweet little boy turns 1 on April 29. I was already planning on throwing a little party for him complete with presents and a homemade doggie cake. But my uncle had to go and ruin everything by planning my cousin's sweet 16 party on the same day!! He rented a club and the whole family is going to be there. Needless to say, I have to go but I know I am going to be miserable. I can't believe I have to leave my cutie pie home alone on his birthday. I am crushed about this. I know he won't know any better but i do and it makes me sad. I already attempted to get out of it but my mom made an issue of it so I have to go. Am i overreacting? This sucks!!

I would go and just enjoy yourself. Celebrate his Birthday on the next day. I understand why you are upset but he will never know the difference.

If it were at my uncle's house I would take him along for sure. But it is going to be at a catering hall I am positive they would not allow pets. My mom said I can just go for a few hours and then go home but the point was to spend the whole day with Nikko. I am really upset but if you tell this to people they won't understand. They'll say "its just a dog" and think I'm crazy.
