| what kind of coat does rigo have. being a newbie, I have been reading about yorkie conformation. Rigo is neither all cotton, curly or silky and why is his back very dark at the roots but grows out a lighter grey? Is it his shampoo or is it natural? It looks like her has a dark strip down the center of his back. His photo is posted in the gallery. Thanks and pardon my wordy inquisitiveness, I am pretty ignorant about this little guy and so happy to have found a place that can help me with him. |

| Well, I'm not sure what coat he has exactly, but it is normal for puppies to have very dark coats and to grow out a lighter adult coat. I'll go look at the gallery picture. I'm sure someone here has an answer for you! And Welcome to YT!!!!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I looked at his picture and he is a cutie! He looks like he has a sort of silky wavy coat. I'm no expert but hopefully some others will respond. The wavy coat could be due to the way you are grooming him. Cali is the first Yorkie that I have had that I am grooming my self for the most part. I have had her groomed profesionally 2 times but I am going to start having her groomed more often as I can't trim her ears and do as good a job. Do you know how to post a picture, it might help people in responding to your question on his coat. If not Pm me and i can resize his pics and try and post for you.

| SweetAutum --- Your pup looks very much like mine. My pup's coat is silky, but wavy like yours. He is very easy to comb - never matts or tangles. I think the gray on my is a little darker shade, but his face is close to the color of yours. *** My pup's roots are silver - like his coloring. How cute! Of course, I'm prejudice. Carol Jean |

| I've found their puppy coats are alot different then their adult coats. Our dogs are about 18 months old now. Their coats don't matt like they used to. I keep Petey's cottony coat in a puppy cut. When he was under a year old, he was black and silky. NOw he looks like a teddy bear almost, so cute! Rosie's hair is more like your cutie pie. The longer it gets though, the straighter it seems. Perhaps it's the weight of the hair.
