Question about color?? At what age can you tell what color they will turn? I have noticed alot of different colors on Yorkies? I was wondering at what age can you predict their color or is it even possible to predict? I was just curious because my Tinkerbell coat has been changing, she was really dark but now she is getting lighter. Here is a picture of her, I really like the golden color it looks like highlights...lol .

| I could tell by 7 months old. By then both of mine had that white that comes on their head turn to tan and their backs starting to turn silver.

Usually if they are going to develop a lighter coat, you will be able to tell by the roots(?) of the hair on their head and behind their ears turning lighter....but it is ofter several months before the change occurs.

You just have to wait and see. Some yorkies keep changing for years. Sometimes the dark hair on their backs gets very light with time.

We could tell the general color on our three guys at about 7-8 months of age ... then it was just a matter of degree. In other words, how much of their face will be tan or how much of their back will be silver or black? At 3 1/2 the silver is still spreading on Julius' back, and at 1 1/2 years old Maximus is still predominately black on his back with more silver than tan on his face.
