| Importance of Pedigree Hi! I am wondering how important it is to see a copy of the pedigree for your yorkie puppy and what you are looking for in the pedigree and how the pedigree should affect the price. Any info about pedigrees would be appreciated, all I know is that it is like the puppy's family tree, but don't know what to look for. Thanks!

| To be able to spot a 'good pedigree' it takes a lot of research. You need to know what health problems different lines have. You need to see the dogs produced in 1 line to see what that line 'looks like.' I've been learning about pedigree's from my mentor who's a breeder/show-er. If you're just looking for a pet, pedigree's should only matter to know how big the dogs are in a line and any health problems that line has. I'm sure yorkierose can provide some more insight |

| pedigree If I was buying a pet, I would expect the breeder to provide a copy of the pedigree, not too much to ask. You can see if the breeding is a brother/sister accident..I would avoid that and also half sibs. Probably for the pet owner I would avoid father/daughter also. Some peds give the name of each breeder under each dog listed..that is nice to have. |
