I just called AKC and this is what she told me. She did say that they had a Jeff Danes listed but they didn't have any complaints. So this would be a good place to start. After that you could always contact the local sheriffs dept.Tell them that you think he is running a puppymill and give them all the info that you may have and so on. Hope this helps out some. This is good information but I did ask my husband about calling the sheriffs department (he is a deputy) and he said, that at least in our county, there is nothing that the local authorities could do. It is a civil matter and would have to be worked out in court. I know this is probably not the best response but just thought I would hare my insight with ya'll.

I can't believe that the AKC has never had a complaint....hundreds of people are complaining.

I don't have time, but someone should read through everything here about him (and the Internet) and present it to everyone and everything possible that might be able to check on him. It is inconceivable that someone like him can't be stopped....

On Animal Planet - we see people jailed and fined for abusing or mistreating only one or two animals all the time. And - I can't even imagine the other laws he is breaking - misrepresentation - dishonest advertising - etc. etc.

It unbelieveable that someone like him has been able to stay in business with so many people know how dishonest he is. I can't understand it.

Everyone who has dealt with him should write in.... They will take personal experience complaints more seriously... Are puppy mills illegal? I don't mean to sound stupid...because of course they are disgusting....but if there are so many that are known...for instance the Amish ones...it seems that it would be slowing down, not growing.. It is not exactly a portable business...

Thats just it. I can't complain about him because it is all hearsay. I am not saying that anyone has lied. I just haven't dealt with this guy so this is about as far as I can go. I will be honest tho. I am shokced that if he is as bad as some say that he hasn't been reported yet. I would think it is just a matter of time tho.

Maybe its the same as the doctors here, people can complain but the doctor has to be found guilty of a offence before any complaints show up in their record. Which is almost impossible to be found guilty of anything, it sucks because people check on the doctor and think that there are no problems or complaints and there could be lots it just does not show.

I can remember about a year or so ago he had on his site about a little puppy girl that was sold for $10,000.00 and he took her to the vet to have her teeth cleaned and the extras pulled before she was to go to her new home, and she died. He was really downing the vet and such and advertised to not go to that vet,. But the strange thing is that before this happened he was saying what a great vet he had been dealing with for many years and so on. Funny how his story changed. And I wonder if the puppy was actually sold for that much and if indeed it did die.

Are his animals AKC?? I believe his website says ACA or something similiar to AKC, but not the same.

I'm sorry to say I don't think AKC can do anything, unless he falsifies papers and such. They will come down on him if he is convicted for animal cruelty.
If you check AKC's Gazette list of fined and banned breeders.

If you will notice many of the pups are ACA and he also sells mixed breeds..so if any buyers had problems with these pups they would not have contacted AKC anyway...and if Jeff Dane had alot of problems with AKC he would just register his litters with a registry like ACA and be done with it.
