| overweight? well coco went to the vet this past wed. and he weighs almost 4lbs. he is now 16wks.(4 months) is he overweight? he is still small he just got chubby. he loooves to eat. his height is about 7 1/2 inches tall and about 11 inches from neck to butt and 12 inches around the belly(diameter). the vet didn't say anything about it he just kinda giggled when he weighed him. he said that coco will be about 6lbs full grown and that the growing process slows down at about 6 months then completely stops at about 8. between the 6-8 months the growth is unnoticable. so what do you think should i put him on a diet? |

| Coco I let puppies eat all they want..when they want. Once he is an adult, you can watch that he doesn't over eat and gain too much weight. I let my adults eat all they want since they are active and play it off. |

| Your vet may have laughed because he is so small. My vets always laugh when mine is weighed and I say he has gotten big. There is a great post in the Health and Diet section by Yorkipower about this topic. It's under My yorkie is getting fat-need help.

| I think that if your baby was overweight, the vet would have told you so. I don't think you should worry about it! Mari

| Diet No Way! Diet? Gee, he's just a puppy, give him a break? They usually get kind of chubby, but it's temporary. They grow out of it. My Artie is 6 pounds but he is solid weight since I exercise him 7 days a week. I used to worry because I used to see other Yorkies that were very small, females with their owners bragging that they were only 2.5 pounds or males @ 4 pounds, but then again I've seen 20 pound females and 10 pound males, but had no papers. So I think his weight is perfect for me! Whenever I worry I just run or walk him more? Maybe if your worried about him being overweight or chunky? I would give him more exercise? But I don't think he is, your Vet. would have told you or warned you if he was at risk? |

| I wouldn't worry too much right now about the weight. When my boy hit the 4 month stage he was a little chubby too, but now he is almost 6 months and he has taken on a new look. Right now he looks great and healthy. I must say i am very pleased with his portioned size. But i must admit i was feeding him food that i got at the vet's office and after i read up on it a little more i decided to change his food. Maybe that had helped or who knows maybe it's just because my boy is growing up. To me it looks like he has really slowed down growing already. Everyday he is changing!!! I seriously think that your vet would say something to you if they thought your babe was overweight. So, for now just enjoy your pleasantly plump baby!!!
