Duffy hurt Night before last, my husband and I decided to go out to eat. (I was too tired to cook). Duffy, our Westie, had been outside, so we called him in and immediately left. When we came back approx an hour later, Jasmine and Murphy were there by the door to greet us, but no Duffy. He was laying in the family room. Jasmine kept running over to him and barking and then back to me. She acted aggitated. I walked over to Duffy and there was a lot of blood under his head and then I noticed another big spot of blood in another place. When I tried to open his mouth, he growled and snapped at me. I have had pets all my life, so I know sometimes if they are hurt & hurting they will do that. I tried to call our vet who is the only vet in town, but no answer. I gave him a little water, washed him off and could see the blood was coming from his mouth. He finally let me look in his mouth a little, but I couldn't see much. I watched him all evening. He stopped bleeding but was very quiet. Yesterday morning, first thing, Bill took him to the vet. She said he had cut his mouth and tongue on something, but would be alright. He is always chewing on something. You never know what you might find him chewing on. He must have cut it up pretty bad to bleed as much as he did. I still haven't been able to get all the blood out of my carpet. He seems to be fine today. I made him some hamburger and rice last night because I thought it would be easy to eat. A Doctor I used to work for said the mouth was very fast healing. I am amazed at how my babies seem to look out or one another. Jasmine seemed to sense that something was wrong with Duffy. She seemed to be trying to tell me and was upset. Since the day Jasmine ran down to the road, Duffy hovers over her if she even tries to go out the door. He corrals her back in. They like my granddaughters Yorkie, Murphy. They play with him and have a good time, but they don't seem to have the bond with him that they do with each other.

We don't know for sure when Tori will be able to take Murphy. The parents will be putting their house up for sale. It should bring a good price as it is in the country and has 5 bedrooms and 3 baths. They may not be able to find another place until the house is sold. Who knows how long that will take. It costs so much to even rent a nice house. The rent is high and then you have to put up a deposit and then there is the utilities. My daughter works for the college as a financial aid advisor and makes pretty good money, but it doesn't go very far when you are paying all the bills for herself and 2 teenage girls and an 8 yr old. She also has a 20 yr old in college. How are you adjusting with your new little one?

So glad everything worked out well. My hubby always makes me put the dogs in their bedrooms when we leave so they can't get into anything and get hurt...

We always put the boys in their crates when we leave and Jasmine stays out. THis is the first time we have left and didn't confine the boys to the utility room or their crates & xpen. We were just going to be gone for a short time, so I told my husband maybe we could try leaving them out for such a short period of time. I think Duffy was hurt before we let him in the house. We opened the door and let him in and went out the door ourselves immediately. I think we were in a hurry and didn't notice his mouth bleeding because I haven't found anything in the house that could have hurt him. He is pretty hyper and always getting into mischief and always chewing on something. We have even opened his mouth to see what he was chewing on and found a rock or a piece of cement.

Glad Duffy Is Ok..The little turds can get into things they don't need to be into..And that is something about Jasmine trying to tell you about him.. They do seem to do this..Terriers are smart ,smart dogs. My male will tells on the females, if one of them potties in the floor. He will start barking, he will look at the mess and then at me.. Like (See what they did ) But, then again he maybe the one who did it and is blaming them for it..... Anyways Duffy get better soon....Sherry
