| Is feeding yogurt to a 2.5 month old yorkie ok? Hi! I read somewhere in a dog magazine, saying that feeding acidophilus, which is found in yogurt is good for a dog for the following reasons: it is good for a dog who is taking antibiotics b/c it provides them good bacteria in the intestine, decreases gas production, and basically provides a good flora of bacteria in the stomach to ward off bad bacteria. Please someone let me know if feeding the yogurt to my dog is okay? Thank you. |

| The enzymes in yogurt are beneficial as you were told. But, not all dogs can digest even the small amt of lactose in yogurt. I suggest BeneBac..beneficial bacteria- for animals. I give a tiny amt to my newborns as soon as they are breathing...so if your baby starts with any GI problems, stop the yogurt and give the acidophilus..I buy mine from the grocery store cause antibiotics give me a fit and I use it..... or bene-bac. It works well for me and my critters. |

| Good advice from Rini, of course! If puppy is well and healthy, it may be fattening. I fed to mine when she was pregnant, they all love yogurt but I don't give it to them as a regular routine.

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | We gave Magic yogurt for the longest time when she was little....she had a lot of GI problems and the vet suggested we give her some once a day to help build up the bateria that was in her track....it worked wonders and she hasn't gotten nearly as often since!!! I would defintely recommend giving it to them, just be careful not to give them too much...
