Hiding food. Can anyone tell me why Mitzi keeps taking bits of her food and hiding it all over the house? She keeps trying to bury bits in our bed between the pillows and anywhere else she can. She puts bits of her chicken on the floor and tries to cover it , but the floor doesn't move! She is there for ages trying to bury it without success. It's cute to watch her, but with spring on the way, I am worried about getting insect visitors because of her stashes I haven't found. Can I stop her doing this? Or do I just have to let her?

I know...it is totally cute to watch them do this. I'm sorry, but I am no help in helping you try to figure out how to stop her from doing it. Every dog I've had has done this. I can't figure out why they keep trying to cover their "bits" with some kind of imaginary dirt, or whatever else they're imagining in those little heads! I think it's just a natural thing for them to do.

Lady does that ALL the time and I think its cute until I sit on the couch and find kibble behind the cushion!! lol.She hides it everywhere! In our shoes, under the couch,in her bedding..etc,its everywhere! We had to stop giving her soft food in the living room because of that because its ok to find a peice of dry kibble, but finding a chunk of canned food squished in my shoe stopped being funny Now we feed her the soft food in the kitchen and watch her. She also tries to burry kibble in the middle of the living room floor! THAT is funny because she pushes the floor with her nose as if covering the kibble, then she digs and digs and walks away as if saying "there..no one will find that there!" lol These yorkies are such goofballs some times!

Yeah, you are asking the wrong person. By the way, I am sitting on our "kibble couch" as I type this.

Trixie does this all of the time. Not so much w/ food, but definately w/ treats. Her favorite hiding place is between the pillows on my bed. If that's not available, she will hide them in the couch cushions or underneth any clothes she might find laying in the floor.

| Chachi and Jewels hide their treats and bones. I dont know how to make them stop though. Jewels always carries her kibble away from the bowl and eats it but she doesnt hide it.
