i'm sorry, i'm sure this has been asked so many times, but spencer is 10 weeks old and i'm just wanting to get an idea when it is safe to have him neutered? i'm sure it's a long ways off yet! thanks

check with your vet. your vet would have a better idea of when it's safe based on spencer's age and weight.

i had bunjee neutered this past monday. he was 18 weeks old and 4.8 lbs.

My vet says it is good to do it early, but not early enough. . . .about 5 months. So I have until then to decide if I want to do it. It is always good to consult your vet . . .

okay let me rephrase . . . anytime before he turns 5 months is the best time!

I had chester done at 6 months the vet said not before then, so talk to your vet, it seems early to me.

My vet thinks that 4.5 mos is old enough. My advice is ASAP (provided it's ok w/ your vet). It will really nip the bad habit of marking that develops with age. I didn't get Stewie neutered until later and I pay for that mistake multiple times per day.

If you want to avoid multiple sugeries I would wait as long as you can so if he has any retained baby teeth they can be pulled then.

I agree

as most - not all - Yorkie babies need baby teeth pulled. It is also the perfect time to have your little one micro-chipped along with the neuter.

I got Chachi neutered at 7 months. They neutered him,extracted baby teeth, and microchipped him.

I spay/neuter every pet before they leave here. I can do them at 12 weeks as long as they are atleast 2 lbs. The early neutering helps with potty training and no hormones are never getting started in their systems which is a big plus.
