Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Hair question Eddie's hair is short, soft and thick. Jack's is longer, soft and thin, so thin you can peel it back and see scalp much like you could a human. What's normal for a Yorkie? We've never let Eddie's grow out, so I have no idea how it would look long.

| That's the way Pixie's hair is. It's very thin and silky. If I part it down the middle of her head & back, you can see her skin.... She's just 6 months though, and I've heard their coats can change for up to 2 years, so I'm hoping it'll thicken up a bit. As far as it being normal or not, I don't know! I don't know anybody else (around here!) that has a Yorkie that I could compare Pixie to. Maybe Eddie has a cottony/wolly coat and Jack's is just closer to the silky standard.... |

| Both types are normal and you hear peopel on here posting about both types of hair. Mine both have thicker hair. One of mine has a cotton coat and one has a silk coat but both have thicker hair.

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | Magic has a thin silky coat whereas Sailor has a thick more cottony coat...it is so weird how different their hair can be!! We just have to make sure and brush Sailor's hair out more so she doesn't get mats....otherwise we are letting them both grow out long!!

| In looking at your 2, I see alot of my babies.... Dublin is bigger and 'rounder' with a short thicker coat. At 10 months he's only had trims around his eyes and sanitary area and the hair on his body is only about 2.5 inches long. His coat is soft and doesn't tangle or matt-it's just not the same as Widget's is. Widget is smaller and 'delicate' with a pointier nose and with hair like you describe Jack's. (Don't tell him I was comparing him with a ggggguuuuurrrrrlll!!!!) When I got her at a year, her hair was already down to her knees, and she had already had a couple of trims. I've had her trimmed once, and it's down a little past her knees 3 months later. Widget's hair falls into a natural part down the middle of her back, while Dublin's is just always sort of scruffy looking, even after bath and brushing. Here is the comparison picture that I posted on your other thread, I think you can tell a little from it... Edited to add: This was before Dublin had his little face trimmed, and he's a bit bigger, too.

| Eddie has a cotton coat and Jack has a silky coat. Both are "normal"; silky is preferred.

I don't believe he's a cotton coat. Whatever it is, I just wish it would grow some !

| Toto's is thick & cottony and grows to the floor. She mats if you look at her straight!! When we finally made the decision to let her have a really short cut, I, of course, discussed it with our vet and he said absolutely not until spring/summer!! He said the Colorado winter would just be way too cold for this little cold natured "Princess"!! Can't wait until spring .... snip, snip, snip!!!

| Yeah Mike, the avatar is weird. You should include Jack in it now. You're a bad person & you're showing favortism. SLT - I am certainly no expert on coat. LOL. I would just bet my boots that Eddie has a cotton coat from the looks of it and because Mike has said that snow sticks to it. I remember seeeing pictures where Dublin's eyes were glowing green. Maybe he and Stewie have the same coat? Stewie is almost black and his eyes glow green, too. His coat grows too fast though.

And I secretly scoffed at all of you who talked about the green-eye thing until we got Jack. He does have green eyes. I always thought it was your camera flashes doing it. I stand corrected. AGAIN!
