| He's home yayyyy When I took him to the vet Sunday night there are forms you have to sign agreeing to several things. On his form it had any collars, leashes, harnesses, toys, blankets should not left, they are not responsible if they cannot be found, so I made sure Sunday they gave me his harness. leash and collar. When I went to pick him up you have to call to let them know you're there. I had his collar and stuff, I asked the receptionist to send someone out to get his harness. My vet is right off a very busy high speed highway. I tell her he must be harnessed because when he sees me he's gonna be like a bull coming out of the bull chute, he cannot be held. Out comes a tech holding the bull and all hell breaks loose when the bull sees me, I let my window down and yell put him through the window, dumb A$$ woman, the dog is going ballistic, I have a compact car, not much room between me and the steering when, she's saying don't you have his harness, I am getting attacked by Cody climbing all over me, knocking off my sunglasses, blutooth knocked out of my ear, his booster seat is on the passenger seat so no room to sit there, I tell her she was supposed to come out and get his harness and not to carry him and this is the reason why. I managed to lasso him up and get him in the booster seat. This was shear laziness on her part, she didn't want to make 2 trips to the car. Vet made the rules on pick ups and drop offs, not me. All I wanted was to get out of there and get my baby home. He cried the 35 minute ride home, I had to drive with one hand rubbing his throat and the other on the wheel for him to not cry. When I needed 2 hands the crying started lol. I had prepared the living room sofa and love seat piling them with pillows so he couldn't jump off and blocked the bedroom door way to keep him from jumping on the bed which is on the high side. I'm thinking once he's home he would eat and go to sleep after two stressful days at the vet....wrong.... he was all hyped up, It was 5PM way past his dinner time so I fed him right away, he drank his entire bowl of water (it holds one cup) then out to make a poop, back in like a bucking bronco and leaps up from the side of the love seat and plops down on all the pillows lol, who knew he could get up using the side of the furniture, he never did that before. Keeping him from jumping up on and down from sofa is a challenge, but he is 100 % himself. He was sent home with the below meds to be taken for 2 weeks, follow up in 10 days. Rimadyl - anti-inflammatory Cervical - pain manager Double P II Herb - helps in spine healing Methocarbamol - muscle relaxer

| So happy he is home, and that he is feeling frisky! Now the real challenge of keeping him calm enough to thoroughly heal. The meds are very familiar...Beau responded well to this protocol for his periodic back problems until he was very old and his arthritis was advanced. Give the sweet boy a kiss for me!

| Glad he is home. Also happy to hear he is either better or that the medicines are working. I had a groomer let all four of mine out the door with no leashes on during the beginning of the COVID thing and I about had a heart attack but luckily this was when not a lot of people were out and about. I don’t get how people in the industry don’t understand that a dog could run off and that the owner knows the dog best so listen to them.

| When I saw this fool carry my dog in her arms I near died, I kept telling her to put him in through the window, my heart was racing like cray, the highway was right there. When I was called for the time to pick him up the tech said he was very naughty. Cody cannot be caged, he goes crazy. The tech said he was biting at the cage then trying to bite them lol, they had to muzzle him every time he was taken out of the cage. I would think a notice would have been on his cage. There is all new staff now. Before the pandemic everyone knew Cody and how he was. If there is a next time I am putting his harness and leash in the door so they can leash him up, my heart can't take another episode like that.

| I swear, Matese, we have the same dang dog--well, bro and sis, anyway; I mean their similarities are uncanny. Awhile back Piper went after a rabbit on her long leash and I accidentally stepped on it, flipping her upside down flat on her back--bam! Well, she was up and running in a nano-second so I figured we'd dodged a bullet (she hit hard). Next day (July 4th), Piper lethargic, but temp was in 90's. When she went outside she was very deliberate, ginger in going on/off deck and had that look that she might get sick to her stomach...Mid-afternoon I lifted her onto couch so she could get benefit of fan; she slept, then went to turn over and cried out. PIPER NEVER CRIES OR YELPS. I had no idea of what was wrong, but she, too, had been giving me those, I don't feel good; you need to help me, please looks. Well, her cry got me moving. Turns out the nearest emergency vet is almost two hours away. I gotta say emergency gals was great (mind you this was almost two years ago), reassured me and got us in immediately. Now what is amazing to me is that I didn't even think of Piper's backflip, I thought she was horribly ill by her overall attitude, the looks, her lethargy, etc. However, the vet walked in and I told her that Piper looked a little hunched over (like gonna be sick) and then I thought of her flip. The vet felt Piper's little back and knew right away what had happened. She took x-rays, no damage. Piper was given anti-inflammatory, pain pills and we were told to take it easy for a week. This entire visit took less than hour and only cost $250 for everything! Piper and I got home exhausted, but relieved. And truly, by the next afternoon Piper was being her Piper-y little self. I, to this day, carry a lot of guilt for accidentally steppin' on her lead. She loves chasing those wasskely wabbits and I love seeing her go full bore which she doesn't do so much since that fateful flip (she's more careful how she goes). There is simply nothing I wouldn't do for Piper--especially when she's asking me to "fix" things. They trust us to come through for 'em and it's a heavy responsibility and one I wouldn't trade for all the world. Piper, too, is 9yrs and 10lbs; the vet says her bloodwork comes back as that of a much younger dog I thankful to God in heaven above that Cody is great and healthy and happy and ready-to-get chippers again. Love to both of you...Dana and Piper--really much love to you guys |

| By the way, when on rare occasions, her back tightens up or is noticeably bothering her, my regular vet gives Piper a laser treatment--in office, takes moments, and seems to really work. Dr Welch truly empathizes with any kind of back pain and told me that he uses the exact same device on his back if he's hurtin' at work!!! Big smooches and a little massage for that little wildman of yours... |

| Last one, Piper, too, will squirm and throw herself out of someone's arms to get to me. When someone first takes her from me, I stay right next to them so I can catch, grab Piper if need be...People kinda smile indulgently when I warn them about Piper (yeah, right, this little thing?), then they experience her strength, determination and force and get real serious real quick! |

| The mighty hunter is very good, to good, I can't keep him from jumping up or off the love set or the sofa. I'm telling ya, I pile both with bed pillows, he jumps up from the side then sits on top of all the pillows with that hey mom look at me look, so I put a laundry basket at the side of the love seat and one at sofa, so he pulls 3 pillows off, jumps up and sits on the last pillow, I swear I see a yorkie smirk on that face. The Cervical and Double P II gave him diarrhea with a tiny amount of blood the day after he came home (Wed.) Wed. night after his 2nd poop same thing blood in with diarrhea, I called the vet, she cut back both meds to once a day from twice a day and gave me Methocarbamol to stop the diarrhea. Diarrhea cleared up in one and a half days and no blood. I feel so bad, several times a day he'll bring me a toy to toss so he can fetch, I ignore him, I hate doing that, I don't want him to feel rejected. These dogs are amazing, they bounce back so fast but I know he is not fully healed. Trying to keep this 9 year old calm is a challenge. Quote:
Mr wiggles, when I went to pick him up they have numbered parking spots, you have to call the office, let them know what # you're parked in. Since I had his harness and leash I reminded her to send someone out to get them. I told her when he sees me he's going to be like a bull coming out of a bull chute, she laughed, but that's how this dog is when a tech takes him to another room for a procedure, he's wild, he will tear up your face and arms with his nails. This tiny woman brings him out to me, no harness, not even a slip leash and the highway is right there. He went insane when he saw me and I was inside my car, I made her put him in through the window before he fought his way out of her grasp. I hope he never has to be kept at the vet again during this pandemic. Piper and Cody must have the same genes in them, sounds like they are related lol.

| I swear, Matese, they are sooo close to being exactly alike...! I built a step so Piper could use that to get up on couch after she was spayed. What did she do? Same day as surgery she took a bigger, more giant leap than ever so as to avoid the step! What are ya gonna do with these little motorized cannonballs!???! Just stand back and love 'em to pieces, I guess!!!! |

| If your vet prescribed Methocarbamol for diarrhea, you might get a second opinion or look into getting another vet. That's always prescribed as a muscle relaxant. Diarrhea is one of its side-effects in some patients. Metronidazole sounds kind of like it, is used for diarrhea. I only mention this as we need to know exactly what meds our babies are taking at all times in case of emergency, drug history required. Sure glad little Cody on the mend. Might try leashing him close to you up on the couch to prevent all jumping, even onto pillows. In his inflamed state, even a tiny jump can cause more irritation and inflammation, even injury, as inflammation causes swelling around it, extra pressure on tender, injured areas that become more easily re-injured. Just a thought. Cody, boy, now you get well! Having a Yorkie in the house just like having a tiger by the tail!

Thank you for catching my huge mistake. I have used the harness and leash to control the jumping when I'm in the living sitting, what ever room I'm in he's there to and blocked off from the rest of the house. He hates the harness, he hates anything on his body, when I take off the harness he's zooming around the room, I don't know what's worse, zooming or jumping.

| With Piper, I've learned it's best just to leave her be...I try to myself slow down and just sit with her, as that's boring and then she isn't following me around, etc. When I have tried to intercede I just make it worse (i.e. if I try to help her on/off couch, for example, she'll shoot around me or over me or the like). But if I leave her alone, she does more natural easy on and offs...But that's just Piper and me!! |
