| Yorkie Pee Bands??? Hello All, I think I have to put my 5 yr old Yorkie in pee band. He is uncontrollably going everywhere in my room. I have a wee wee pad down as I don't walk him but I think now only 50% of the time he goes in the wee wee pad. All other times he lifts his leg at the corner of my bed, at the corner of my computer table, next to my computer chair. You get the idea. I am at my wits end. I have tried the apple spray and thoroughly cleaned where he goes with urine destroyer to no avail. Any ideas on which brands work best? |

| Putting a belly band on is not going to to fix the problem just put a band aid over it. It also can cause rashes. Is he neutered? Start the potty training process from the beginning like he was a puppy. Don't give free run use a play pen or crate and lots of praise when he goes where he should. The apple spray is for chewing not peeing.

| Has the Vet checked him out for an infection? I would definitely do this first. |

| I use regular baby diapers for my boys, masking tape to hold them together. Just wrap them around and tape them. I have used washable ones also and used nursing pads to help absorb. Disposable ones are great too, but so pricey, the Walmart diapers are much cheaper. I tried hard to train them but gave up, they were stuck in the kitchen until I finally gave in and put wraps on them. Now they happily have the run of the house and I have peace of mind knowing they are not ruining my furniture. They use puppy pads for pooping. We take them out everyday and let them run around without the bands on they have never had an issue with rashes. |

YT 2000 Club Member | Pee problem My Jojo has anxiety. So when I leave him in the home while I go out and run errands he will pee on things. He must get upset. Otherwise he goes outside. I get the Male wraps pads from petsmart. Yes expensive. A buck a pad! No rash but I wipe his belly after the pad is off. Yorkies have issues and this is one. Just wrap that boy and save your furniture! |

| It's not the dog that failed at being potty trained, it's the owner that failed. Potty training requires diligent consistency, schedules and lots of patience, praise and treats when they go where they are supposed to go. Patience, consistency, schedules is an absolute must in potty training.

| Well, I just didn't give up, but my boys (at the time, I had 3) were marking everywhere. this works for us, they don't poop everywhere either, they are good about using the pad for that. She asked for advice on belly bands, lots of folks use them. I'm very happy with my decision, my boys are happily allowed full run of the house now and my furniture stays nice. |

| I think each Yorkie owner must decide (on an individual case basis) what is best for them and their babies. What is best for me might not work for someone else. Some furbaby parents don't want them sleeping with them at night. The first night I had Gidget she slept about 3 hours. She was in a crate which was placed on a table about 2 feet from my bed. She woke up at 3:00 in the morning and that was the beginning of the whining an barking. The next night I decided to put her in bed with me and that's where she's been ever since. It works for us even though others have criticized me for giving in to her. She's my companion and it works for us. Please don't judge how others respond to these delightful little creatures. |
