| Duchess torturing the cat So Duchess has not been outside for a walk in about a week. This week it has either been dark when I get home or it's been raining so Duchess has not had her daily walks. Of course she has all this pent up energy and how do you thinks she has been releasing it? By tormenting the cat. She won't leave poor Chloe alone. To be fair Chloe starts it about 50% of the time. Usually when Duchess gets her daily walks, she only tortures the cat a few times a day but when she doesn't get her walks.....OMG she won't leave poor Chloe alone. Fortunately Chloe is infinitely smarter the Duchess and can usually outsmart her every time Duchess decides she wants to chase her. It's hilarious because Duchess will be chasing Chloe and Chloe will run behind the sofa where Duchess can't get to her. And then Chloe will just start slapping Duchess with her paw from behind the couch.....it drives Duchess crazy. She starts barking and growling trying to figure out how to get behind the couch against the wall. It's never ending with these two. So even though it's cold as hell, Duchess will be getting a walk today. |

| Our dogs and cats plat together too. Sometimes it gets rough. but you know? <laughs and winks> The cats CAN not only get away, but get up on things my dogs can not....and they do this too, then; pretty soon, here they come back walking right in front of the dog(s). And. It starts all over. We have one cat that 'tells' on our GSD. Oh Gosh. THIS gets old....it's like.....'She's looking at me.....poooor poooooor innocent me!' |

| Exactly. They are like 3 yr old siblings that will never grow up and move out. When Chloe jumps up high when Duchess is chasing her..........that drives Duchess crazy too. She just barks and barks at her but the look on my cat's face while Duchess is making all this noise is priceless. The more Duchess's barks, the more my cat is like "my plan is working, she is about to get yelled at.....bwaahaaa". Last edited by yavenay; 12-06-2019 at 09:22 AM. |

| You could also look at doggy puzzle games that you can use treats or her food in so she gets mental stimulation on the days you can't walk her. Also if you have enough room mine love chasing the laser pointer. Having 4 they generally wear each other out lol.

| I highly doubt it is meant in a cruel torture way but in a fun spirited way and that the cat is not hiding in fear for her life or anything. Its playing.

| Reed the post. The cat is usually only "tortured" sometimes but now is "tortured" more often and hides and still claws in defense. If i told you my yorkie was fine and hiding behind a couch and biting at a cat in fear would you say its fine? |

| The word tortured is used in jest, yavenay would never allow Dutchess to literary "torture" Chloe the kitty. Dutchess and Chloe are BFF. You're a new kid on the block, eventually you will get all YT members are animal lovers and would never allow animal abuse between two animals they owned. I don't see where yavenay wrote "and hides and still claws in defense." The play game is the cat hides behind the sofa, when Dutchess goes looking for her Chloe "slaps" Dutchess in the face, no claws out is ever mentioned.

| Understood, on YT you will never see any animal, dog or cat being used as prey for the pleasure of another animal, it just ain't gonna happen on YT

exactly It's all in fun, they are very gentle with each other. Duchess never bites Chloe and Chloe never scratches Duchess. Duchess is more annoying than anything. | |
