| New here 😊 Hi, new here and nice to meet you all. Happy holidays! I pick up my Ocean Pearl Yorkie puppy Sunday, she will be just over 10wks. Calling her Heidi. I thought it would be nice to chat with other Yorkie owners. I'm excited & bit anxious as it's been a while since I had a dog. My sister's Yorkie was amazing, a beloved member of the family. I have a Devon Rex cat 'Peanut' who loves other animals and gets overexcited very easily. He's been awaiting his new friend for months. I guess if u don't mind ... any travel hinters, drive may be 5-6 hours home. Thanks! |

| Welcome to YT and congrats on your soon to be new baby girl, oh the fun to come with a puppy and cat that likes dogs lol. That is a long trip for a new puppy that has just left the only home they have know and now with strangers, so scary for a wee lil baby. My biggest concern would be car sickness. I suggest to avoid this is to hold the puppy on your lap with a blanket under her if she does get sick, that is, if you are not traveling alone. If you are doing this trip alone I assume you will be using a carrier or a crate. You have to consider potty time and this puppy's paws cannot touch the earth until she has had all of her vaccines. What ever you plan on putting her in should be big enough to hold piddle pads, and do not feed her while you are traveling, she may get motion sickness and throw up, I would hold back on water, just little sips through out the trip. Hopefully we have a member out there who has picked up their baby and made a long trip home.

| Thanks! She has been using peepad & I'm bringing with me. Definitely don't want her to pick up anything until vaccinated! Have 2 size carriers so okay for pee pad. Being that they need eat often, could get low blood sugar, will the Nutri-stat suffice for that long? What does one do if she gets car sick? |

| It takes about 10 posts before they show up instantly, until them they are in moderation mode to, I assume, prevent spam from being posted.

| Welcome. If you can have a second person with you driving the car so you could keep an eye on the pup that would be best. The car ride might stress the pup out so you may need to keep an eye out for hypoglycemia and give a meal along the car trip.

| ohh congrats!! How exciting for you!! It's a good idea to have 2 of you to pick her up. It's nice to have someone hold and calm her while the other person drives. When we picked up our two each time, we brought a dog carrier just in case and some towels. We found it helped them feel comfy with some towels on our lap. My second Yorkie has a more sensitive stomach and gets motion sickness in the car. Make sure to not feed her before the car ride (thought most new puppies don't have much of an appetite for the first couple/few days due to everything being new and scary). And I also agree with Matese to only give her small sips of water if she wants any. Have a super fun car ride home! Make sure to update us with pics when she's home!

| Let us know how the Cat and Pup get along. We have a Munchkin Cat(cross between a Ragdoll and a Dwarf) that loved our Golden and we hope will love our little Nikita.
