| Yorkie standard is not to exceed 7 pounds but there are many many Yorkies much bigger then that.

| Mine is 13 lbs and 100% yorkie! And he is not fat at all, very lean. His parents are around the same size. |

| Hello and thanks for replying I was just wondering how you know that your baby was going to be bigger ? Mine is 6lbs right now at 5 months. I’ve read a lot of posts saying that Yorkies generally stop growing at 6 months but I have no idea. |

| According to the Yorkie growth charts, Fabian, a purebred, was supposed to be about 3.5 lbs. He's now over 7.5 lbs at 10 mos, healthy and also solid muscle. He was not purchased as a show dog, so no worries. |

| Do any of you remember how big your babies were when they were 5 months ? Mine right now is 6 pounds and wether the theory that they stop growing at 6 months is true or not ? |

| No they still grow some and even at a year old they are still filling out with muscle and stuff but each dog really is different.

| Bentley is adorable, don't be sad if he's not the smaller baby you wanted, you will find a more sturdier Yorkie not as fragile as the wee lil ones, he's still a Yorkie with attitude, personality and mischief. Although I adore the wee lil ones all my yorkies have been over 9 pounds, nice sturdy babies, they fit my life style.

| I have a boy who’s weight is between 12.5 - 13 pounds. He’s not overweight, he’s just got a big frame. His parents were 6 and 7 pounds. His siblings are all half his size. I don’t know what it was but he just grew really big for a yorkie, but he’s 100% yorkie. He’s registered and has a pedigree with lots of champions. A lot of people ask me what he’s mixed with, and they tend to not believe me when I say he’s purebred. But a big yorkie can definitely be a yorkie. They were bred down to a smaller size from the past, but every breeder says that once in a while they’ll get a big yorkie. A big size doesn’t mean they’re not a yorkie. |
