| Apartment without balcony Hi! Haven't posted in a while but am wondering if anyone has any advice. I have a little Yorkie and a chihuahua, and we just got a temporary place to stay that doesn't have a balcony. We take our guys for 2 long walks a day, but they're too tiny to hold their bladders for long so need plenty of potty breaks throughout the day. Does anyone have an idea for what to do? I'd rather avoid taking them all the way down every few hours. Especially when my husband travels, I'd rather not venture into the street alone. I've tried pee pads but they tend to confuse my dogs and they start peeing on bath mats and carpets. Does Astro turf work well? litter box? I also have to travel, so can't take anything too heavy..... but I suppose certain things I could buy there! Any ideas? Thanks 😊 |

Were did they go before you moved? Was there grass or something on the balcony? We use a silicone mat under our pee pad that holds it in place so it can't slip and slide. Our pup confused area rugs for a while but we found that normal training practices like restricting her access to rugs, using enzyme cleaner to get rid of accident smells, restricting her area until she successfully used the pad 100% and then expanding her area slowly all worked to fix the issue. We also found her pad could not move from room to room in the house. One location all the time. The silicone mat rolls up for easy packing when we travel and is inexpensive enough we actually have an extra we use for that purpose.

I have hard floors and have taken away all mats in the condo. They don't have access to my bedroom, which is carpeted. In one room, I have a potty pad for my younger one. I recently found the best tray holder ever. It's the perfect size for the pads and there's no more missing and leaking pee all over my floor! https://www.amazon.ca/Dogit-70576A1-.../dp/B006JVPLCG I ordered mine on amazon.com as it was only $13usd. https://www.amazon.com/Dogit-70576A1...ZZD60FB04NBHGC

| Pad holder This is the pad holder we use. It's easy to pack, won't scratch floors, and is completely washable. I spray it down on both sides with a safe spray cleaner, rinse it, and roll it in a towel to dry and it's fresh and clean from any little spatters. | We use the pad holders, too. Fabian was totally pad-trained on it until my husband decided to have him relieve himself outside. Now he goes everywhere! He's still a puppy, so he'll get it eventually. Until then, we use a shower curtain folded in half at the bottom of his pen to catch the "overflow" when he misses the pad. It launders easily in hot water and doesn't retain any urine smell or stain. |

Peeing on the tree............it's a guy thing. lol We actually used a pee pad outside in the beginning. Our little girl has gotten so flexible but it did take time. When we go for walks I trained her to the command "that's not your lawn" so she won't pee on our neighbor's green lawns! When we fly she's trained to go on her pad in the airport bathrooms and in the airplane bathroom! It's a tight fit on a plane, but we make it work. Our only continuing challenge are those little cling-ons or "raisins" when she walks away before the last little poo drops off.
