| New to Site Hello all. I am new here and have no idea where or how to start. It has been so long since I was part of a forum I have completely forgotten how to go about posting and where to begin. I live in San Diego and I had two Yorkies in the house at one time when I first joined. Unfortunately the landlord didn't want to keep Baby here so she was given away. We still had Mister then and what a joy he was. Sweetest little guy you'd ever want to meet. Since this is a Yorkie site I know all of you know what I mean. These little dogs are truly a gift. Mister passed on last year when he was left outside by the teenager in the house and coyotes got him. We were brokenhearted as you can imagine. Even now it hurts to think about him. We have been trying recently to get another Yorkie and one of the reasons I'm here is to warn anyone else about scam breeders. I am sure that most of you are veterans of buying these little guys but the lady I shared the Yorkies with was not. She found a site, blumoon yorkies in Virginia and thought she had a good deal. It appears that this site is bogus. I know there is a blumoon yorkies in Kansas and they are legit but this one is not. She paid the money for the dog and so far has never seen any indication that she is going to get this dog. In fact she was asked to pay more money out yesterday for a carrier in order to get the dog. Advised her not to do it but she went ahead and so far again nothing. My question here is how do you Yorkie lovers manage to avoid such pitfalls? I have found no complaints about this person in Virginia and I have found that somewhat odd as I am sure they have scammed many people. We truly want another Yorkie but are unsure how to do it properly. Mister changed my life when he arrived and I can't imagine not having a Yorkie in the house so I decided to get active here and ask the people who know Yorkies best for help. I'd love to be able to share photos once again of these treasures and find out how to protect myself from people cheating people of money and these dogs. Thanks. |

| I would be leery about getting another yorkie if the teenage for potentially leave them out again. Have you looked at the Yorkshire terrier club of America at ytcm.org? Also I would look for breeders you could actually visit.

| Yorkie Breeders I agree with you completely but we do so want another Yorkie. The teenager will not be left alone with this dog no matter what. Thanks for the suggestions. Believe it or not my friend is still dealing with the bogus person. As you might expect he is now saying the insurance is expired, his mistake, and was asking for more money. We have no intention of paying another dime out here. As I have told my friend there is no dog. I know it is very hard for her to understand that or to stop thinking of that cute photo but what I believe is that this dog, if there really is one, came from a puppy mill. As you noted using a breeder locally where you can see the dog is the best. I just wish there was a way to take this person down and get his bogus ads offline. That is the thing about the internet, anyone can put up anything they want and hijacking a breeder name is easy it seems and of course having various phones to try and indicate different people is also easy to do. |

| Thanks Good to be welcomed, thank you. Hopefully eventually this household will have another Yorkie. I believe that the bogus transport person has given up now trying to get more money. Last bid was for $1000 because he just noticed the health insurance certificate had expired. Hard for my friend to accept as yet that there was never a dog at all and this was all a scam. It is a shame that such places exist on the Internet and that we can't stop it. Still when we are ready to try again we will find a responsible breeder locally where we can see the dogs. I am trying to convince her as well that she should look at a normal Yorkie and not be so concerned to have something even smaller in the breed. The understanding is there now too that if you want a purebred Yorkie and one who truly has been vetted that you will pay for it and there won't be any extra demands for money. They are such wonderful dogs and worth the extra effort to find the right one. Would you say that you had a difficult time finding that right one? Just curious as to how difficult it was for members to find the Yorkie they wanted and the questions to ask. |

| I agree. Deal with a breeder who will let you see the pups they are offering and the conditions they are being bred/raised in.

| Welcome to YT! Sorry to hear about what happened to your baby... When I first started looking, I contacted several breeders on the Canadian equivalent of Yorkshire Terrier Dog Breeders- Yorkie Puppies I know in this day and age, most people like websites, but I found that a lot of the good reputable breeders who are more focused on showing than running a Yorkie puppy business don't have websites (which makes sense to me). Try calling them or emailing them with your interest. It's a good starting point. Then, somewhere down the road ask when it'd be convenient to meet with them either at their home or if they're attending any local shows. It's easier if you're willing to travel outside of your state too, depending on availability... Good luck in your search! Make sure you don't rush into it. It's well worth it to have patience and find the perfect breeder (rather than finding the cutest puppy that a bad breeder tries to 'sell' to you).
