| Thunder shirts? I see a lot of those, also lovies for them to help them calm. Any tips on calming them with a sudden issue? Would a thunder shirt work for after the fact? I assume it's because they feel safer with a bit of weight and something covering them. My poor girl was sleeping today and our buzzer for the fire alarm went off. twice. First time I had her calmed; second time I had a heck of a time calming her down. She's still a bit terrified. I'm kicking myself because i ALMOST bought one last week just in case for new years. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Yes, the theory came from Temple Grandin - the all-over pressure can be comforting for animals (and humans too, actually). If you get one, try ebay and Amazon as the prices are amazing! Don't buy it regular retail.

| You might try a snug fitting tee shirt. That would be a lot less expensive than a thunder shirt. |

| I love the thunder shirts. I'm not sure if they still do it but you used to could return them if they did not work.

| Both my boys love their Thundershirts. Zeus has a gray, Perseus has a blue and white, both have multi-gray colored Thundersweaters, and both just got the prettiest jade green. Here they are wearing them New Years Eve -- both are absolutely terrified of fireworks. They also wear them during storms, car trips, vet trips, and anywhere else that gives them anxiety. I would echo getting them from Amazon! |

| Yes- that I did know. . Two of my kids have SID, so I'm an old hat at the weighted blankets/pillows, sensory seeking/hiding. I did NOT Know to get it on amazon or ebay, though, and never thought about it. I just assumed that it was the same price. Husband took Chews to fireworks. I had no idea that he wasnt' the one holding her, and she came home absolutely terrified on NYE. She was glued to me for hours. I immediately wrapped her in my goosedown throw, and it helped tremendously. Didn't stop her from not leaving my side, but it did help her calm down. I ordered one on ebay. It's on it's way. |

| The thundershirt works well for Teddy. Max doesn't have any fear issues, but the thundershirt also helps calm him in situations where he would get overly excited. The only caution I would give is to make sure the pup doesn't get overheated while wearing one. They are warm.

| I have to give a thumbs up to thundershirts, Lola is a pretty adjusted pup but a few things get her fireworks and our big natural fireplace. When we first get our fireplace going I put her shirt on and distract her with toys and some treats and after a while she settles down near me, without it she runs up stairs and hides in the master bathroom.

| We got one for Cody because he is very anxious outside, and in the car. Unfortunately, it did not work for us, but that does not mean it will not for your dog. Good luck, we are still on the look out for something to calm his little nerves. Quote:
