Anybody get ticks in December?

OMG They said I got bit by a tick tonight??

My hoomans were fiddling around with my head picking at my hair which I dont like at all.

Well they persisted so I just let them have their way...they pulled this tick thing of my neck, dropped it in a cup and stared at it for a while and pronounced it dead.

I didnt feel a thing - so I guess I'll live.

Yes last Christmas we took Bella to have her pic taken with santa at a big mall there were lots of people there all dogs were on lead . But we discovered a tick a few day later . She hadn't been out side snow and all so we say that Santa gave her a tick for christmas. It must have come off another dog. We had it in a bag and I just throw it out the other day.LOL

Here in N.E.Pa. ticks bury themselves in the ground if temp is under 50 degrees, however, if the temp rises over 50 they will emerge then bury them selves when the temp. drops. Also if you have a yard with leaves that drop from trees, keep your yard free of leaves, ticks are abundant in dead leaves is what I have found.
Some years back in the middle of a very cold and harsh winter my now passed girl had FLEAS . I couldn't Imagine how she would have
fleas in that freezing weather, then I saw there was a feral cat hanging out under the deck that was my girls hunting grounds. I came to the conclusion the CAT had FLEAS and must have dropped off the cat and when my girl went under the deck they jumped on her. The same thing can happen with ticks.

We had a mild November here so, I'm guessing a tick could have gotten on a pet.
Usually we get a frost in October but we never this year in central Illinois
