| Belly Band Use? I was wondering how most people that use belly bands ,do you leave them on at night ?That seems to be when my pup has problems,Would it be mean to leave them on all night? Also does it cause the dogs any discomfort?I would be thankful for any input from someone who has used them for a while. Also if anyone has used them as a training aid that worked or has it been a permenent solution? |

| I don't leave the bellyband on Gage at night. I use it when he has "free" run of the house, when we go to our deer camp (no way to "contain" him), or when we go to my mother's house. We are still working on the potty training issue with him although he goes on his pee pad 98% of the time - not at 100% just yet! I have found that when he is wearing the bellyband, he will hike his leg once to "mark" but when he realizes it was not a successful mark, he won't lift his leg again - so it is helping to train him on the marking issue. Wish I could give you more info/help! I have read from others on here that leaving the bellyband on constantly could cause irritation and you need to think about a possible urinary infection from leaving it on all the time....just something to think about. Hope you have a great day Suzi |

| My Kodie only wears his belly band when he is running around the house freely as well... since he sleeps with me... he does not have to wear a belly band. I do notice that since he will pee in the belly band that when I take it off.. he well sometimes smell.. and its kinda moist in that area... so I do see this as a health problem in the future... if you continue to put the belly band on consistantly. You have to air it out!! hehe |

| I have four babies...both males sleep in their belly bands and both females sleep in their panties. They all sleep in my bed and therefore there are no accidents. Mine range in age from 5 months to 10 months and all have done fine wearing them. They have wet in the night but the padding in them keeps it from going through to my bed! I get up and let them off the bed, take off their "stuff", take them outside and they do their business. |

| I only make Lucky wear his at night because occasionally he would get up & go in the bathroom & I wouldn't know about it. He doesn't wear it during the day at all because he always tells me he has to go during the day!

| I do not leave the belly bands on at night. The skin needs to breathe, and like an infant, the dog can get a "diaper rash" if the pads are not changed frequently. You also run a greater risk of a urinary tract infection UTI if you leave the belly bands on for an extended period of time. If you need to have them on during the night to prevent accidents, then just be sure that have time during the day when they are not wearing their bands. Julie |

| I dont have a male dog but my best friend does and she uses them all the time. I make them and I use fleece to line the inside of bellybands so they are soft and cushiony.

| We use them for Tucker, but not at night. It seems that night time is the only time he doesn't pee every time I turn around! Tucker doesn't like the belly bands, and he tends to just lay around when they are on. I don't think it's uncomfortable, but I think he just is insulted to have it on. I thought we could use it as a training aid, but he pees in it, and couldn't care less if it's wet or dry.

| We've just recently gotten the belly bands for Ozzie to use when he is out of his pen and roaming the house. I know that it will take some getting used to, but he doesn't care for them right now. As soon as we put the belly band on, he pees. I will take that one off (because I worry about irritation) and put another one on (I use the ones with a sewn-in liner)...but I'm beginning to wonder if he doesn't pee in it on purpose hoping that it will come off. Should I leave it on him for awhile so that he will try to avoid wetting the band? I want to use this as a training aid.

| I just realized today that Mavrick needs to use one. I take him outside to go to the bathroom but have a pad inside. He will usually squat to pee on it. However, I think I may have found 2 places today where this wasn't the case. I can't remember where I read it (maybe here) that an ace bandage works as a belly band also. Anyone ever used one? I can see how they would be a cheaper alternative ($1.00 a peice). |

| OK! I'm fairly new to this site - guess I'll have to bite on this one! Are the belly bands only for boy dogs? Is it to keep them from urinating? Do they wear them because they aren't house broken or you just don't want them marking? Excuse me but I've never had a male dog so I'm really naive about this! Is that the same reason the little girl dogs wear panties? I've NEVER seen it! Believe you me, I have not! Do they wear them while being house broken. Do you still take them outside to do their business?

| Willie, my male Yorkie isn't neutered and LOVES to mark everything. So in order to keep down odor (and my husband), we use belly-bands with a changeable pad. When he stays in the doggie bedroom at night, I leave the band off, but if he's running at will in the house, we use the belly-band. Willie's is about four/five inches larger around than his waist and about three/four inches across. I have them in cotton, flannel, some are custioned, etc. Several YT members sell them. Maybe you could purchase one and then make your own if you sew. |
