Update and anyone with yorkie betw 3-5lbs adult size?

Hi everyone,

Previously I posted that I was preparing for a puppy and my search for one
After research and bugging so many breeders with tons of questions I agreed with the first one I talked with who was clearly (after investigating the whole thing like Sherlock Holmes) the most reputable breeder with experience of 20 years I have found in my area + he showed me the entire bloodline with all the info you can imagine! Dad is 3lb and mom 5lbs. I made a mistake in my previous post that the mom was 2.8lbs. Sorry about that!

The breeder said my puppy (I think I'll name her Marie) will be between 3-5lbs which is a good size, right?

I also got a puppyren (like a tent instead of a crate)

Can't wait till she is born in Sept.

Congratulations! I'm very happy for you. I've had five Yorkies and one before them with my mom. Three were in the 3-4 pound size, one special little one, Gracie, who was a little less than three pounds, and two around seven pounds. I've loved each and every one. I had to be much more careful with Gracie than I do with Katie, who is very athletic, although Gracie still tore around the backyard and the house like a flash. A good breeder breeds for health, temperament, and conformation, and it makes all of the difference in the world. I wish you the love, laughter, and happiness with Marie that my little girls have given me through the years and also for a healthy little girl.

Thank you so much. I can't wait to share pictures with you all! I have one month to go until it's born and between 8-12 weeks old I might be allowed to take it home (breeder is very strict and protective about his yorkies lol).

In the meanwhile I can't resist buying stuff here and there! I saw Nootie shampoo and spray (vanilla pea), anyone ever tried this stuff? For toothpaste and toothbrush i saw the Topiclear puppy dental kit! Thoughts anyone?

I hope you know what you are doing. In your previous thread you insisted the size of the female breeder was 2.8 ... you even said to Yorkiemom1 that it was not a typo. Now, you say it was a typo which I do hope it was.

I also pray, that in your search for a tiny yorkie, you are getting one from a reputable breeder. To reiterate what others have said in the previous thread, these people who breed for tinies do not do anyone any favors...only their pocketbooks. Over the years I have seen and dealt with the horrible congenital issues that come with this type of breeding. Reputable breeders simply don't breed for tinies....sure they get some tiny ones but that is not the goal.

I am not trying to be hard on you...I am just letting you know that IF this person is breeding for tinies, please rethink because you may end up with a very sickly pup.

If he really is strict and loves his yorkie puppies, he won't have a range of 8 - 12 weeks. It will be 12 weeks.

LadyJane: Thank you for your reply. In previous post the 2.8lbs mom wasn't a typo at all as I said (sorry for the confusion), but my upcoming puppy now is from a different mom who is 5lbs and same dad who is 3lbs.

I don't think you are being hard on me, it's an honour that someone cares so much and tries to prevent any issues I might have if I don't choose wisely!
I honestly did my research and getting a puppy whatever breed and size can always be a risk. There are a few other breeders but I turned away as they bred many different breeds and wanted one that dedicated to yorkies only. This was the ONLY one.

I do prefer a smaller one (under 5lbs and above 2.5lbs which the breeder is aware of) for myself but again this is an estimated size based on bloodline and parents. There is always a chance my future puppy turns out to be a moose (or a mouse)!

I don't know exactly when I can bring her home. 12 weeks is fine as long as I can visit her regularly

I wonder if the confusion is because 2.8 kg would be about 5 lbs. and she is from a country that uses metric??????

Hi Lil Sis,

No, the OTHER mom yorkie was really 2.8 lbs (1.3kg) - I KNOW it's small!
The 2 pups of that litter (from March) are about 2 lbs at 5 months, one of them is still with the breeder.
The mom yorkie who is carrying my puppy (Marie) is 5lbs and is having a litter in Sept with the same dad from the litter in March. The breeder said the estimated size is 3-5lbs.
So in short : 2 female yorkies ( 2.8lbs and 5 lbs) and one male (3lbs).

Additionally, no reputable breeder will breed a bitch that is under 5 pounds regardless of the age, due to risk of loosing the bitch and/or the puppies and the possibility of a C-section.

I believe these people are devoted to yorkies and really knows what they are doing as they been doing it for so long. The litter in March went fine with the 2.8lbs mom. The mom of Marie is 5lbs which is the upcoming litter.

I feel I am doing the right thing and I truly believe that after all my research that the breeder is really good despite if his choice of yorkies are on the smaller side (under 5lbs). I'm sure there are even better breeders - who knows! I'm doing my best

Yes. My chews will hover between 3.8 and 4.5. I was told that she's probably pretty much done with the growing.
