Donating YT 11K Club Member | Dark Red Neck Hello all. I took my dog Livie to the vet the day before yesterday to get her pre op-blood taken and examination for her dental surgery. She will have to have lots of teeth removed Anyhow today I just noticed her neck is super dark red(the skin) which is around where they took the blood from. Is this normal? I know they took the blood from around that area because when they gave her back to me it was wiped with alcohol. I did not notice this before, only today. What do I do?? Also her blood results came back normal and good for surgery. I tried to take a good pic but it's hard to, with her hair.

| Could be bruising? Especially if it's where the needle entered. I would ask the vet about it |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I would watch this area. If the redness also starts to involve pain, heat, and swelling...then it's tuning into an infection.

| It's likely just bruising. Watch it closely but don't be too worried. They have very thin skin and vets draw from the jugular on such tiny dogs- it does sometimes cause terrible looking bruises.
