| Belly Band Question I have been having Boomer use his Belly Band at night and when I cannot watch him or keep him confined to a specific area. He is pee pad trained but lately will pee anywhere in the house. Since I am not home to always correct his behavior it is hard to train him. As a result, I have been keeping a belly band on him throughout the night. When I usually take it off him in the morning it is usually soaked. Is there any issue with having him use his Belly Band for up to 10 hours and UTIs?When I take it off him I notice that he will go and lick his private area. His brother on the other hand is like a camel will hold it in and 95% of the time use the pee pad.

| I think UTI is a possibility, skin problems are a very high risk. I have to tease you -- are you really sleeping 10 hours?! I wish that I could sleep that long. In addition to changing the belly band more frequently, his belly needs to be washed and dried. Even without belly bands, my guys require fairly frequent belly washes to stay clean and prevent problems. They have "pee strings," hair to direct the urine away from their chests. Hopefully some belly band users can give you some more tips. When you can supervise, work on training more with the pad by limiting Boomer's roaming room to a smaller space with the pad. Limit his freedom when you aren't there too. Make sure you praise and reward when he uses it. Also, change the piddle pad frequently. Sometimes dogs will not want to return to pad if they think it is getting too used. Clean up accident spots thoroughly with an enzyme cleaner to discourage him from returning to the spot to do it again.

| During the night, a crate is a better choice- the skin really needs to breathe or it will be very irritated. When I use bands on foster dogs, they wear them anytime they are out of the crate. I line mine with feminine pads. The heavy kind, for bad pee-ers. I check them and change them frequently (I check hourly or so), wash the actual bands every other day (I keep 2 on hand to trade out), and every time I change them or take them off, I wipe the belly area with a baby wipe or wet rag.

| I use really thick pads I have to look at the package and see exactly which pad I use....but it is SUPER absorbant and wicks urine away from my males, and they hold the urine overnight, as well as 2-4 hours during the day when they are inside for naps....Equate Overnight Pads....they work great.....use them inside the belly bands.....
