| Would you ever throw your dog or pet a birthday? My Yorkie is turning two. She is family and I would love to throw a small party for her. I have no idea how to make it simple and fun. Please share. For a gift i have ordered this birthday gift. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Sure, I think lots of us celebrate our dog's birthdays. Some even have other dogs come to their parties, you can do whatever you want! Try not to over indulge in food, if you make a cake, do a healthy cake with healthy ingredients, you don't want them to get pancreatitis from the celebration. A pumpkin cake without sugar and some yogurt frosting is a great treat. Dogs don't taste sugar like humans do, most of their taste buds are in their nose, so if it smells good, that's all they care about. Spices like cinnamon can make it smell so good and still be good for them. I've seen that flower arrangement before, so cute!

| I love this! I do this for my babies, but since I have a kennel, we chose one day for everyones birthday....had to make it June 9th, my moms birthday....we celebrate mommas birthday, as well as the dogs birthdays...we have games set up in the back yard, with kiddie pools.....I also bought one of those dog bone cake molds, and I use the dog cake mix.....we do cookies and cakes with that doggie cake mix....I always do everyone boiled eggs for everyone.....and they love watermelon, so I do alot of fresh fruit for them.....pieces of watermelon and cantaloupe and honeydew, pieces of pears, bananas, some pineapple, a little apple, ......all this fruit is in little pieces for them and they each get several bites of fruit, so no one needs to panic thinking I am feeding each dog, cupfuls of fruit!! A great time is usually had by all! I DID save that florist/flower arrangement you had sent to your Birthday Baby!! That is adorable!! Last edited by Yorkiemom1; 06-18-2016 at 03:17 PM. |

| This is about where we're at.... maybe something special to eat... it's more of a celebration for Robyn and I. We use the date we got each pup as their birthday. |

| I threw Bella a birthday party last year. I got "Barkday" supplies from Petco along with her dress and custom bow with her groom. I went to a boutique pet store and bought dog ice cream and biscuits that said happy birthday on them for a few doggie friends. We had cookies for her human friends. Of course they have a boxed dog cake you can purchase and bake and there are plenty of recipes online for a frozen treat they will love to be on the cheaper end. I also have seen the same dog biscuits at Petco. Chewie's first birthday is coming up and we will be celebrating of course. I think I will make my own treats this time and do treat bags like we did for Christmas for the neighborhood dogs. I buy chobani plain Greek yogurt and mix with peanut butter, bananas and oatmeal. They love it! I'll try to find pics

| I celebrate in a different way. I home cook for him his favorite meals the whole day. I'll take the day off work, and just do things he likes all day. Hiking, fetch, I'll set up an obstacle course in the backyard. Sometimes I'll buy him a slice of dog cake, which he won't even try. I don't do presents since I don't want him to learn it's ok to rip paper. He doesn't understand presents or need things like clothes or more toys. He has a drawer full of clothes he hardly uses.

I am LOVING this treat idea and will be adding it to my Birthday Party Menu!! Can you give the proportions of each to make the treat...do you mix these 3 together with the yogurt or one each with the yogurt....??? I LOVE the B'Day Partys we have here and all the dogs have a ball! Last edited by Yorkiemom1; 06-20-2016 at 02:22 PM. | |

| yep I mix them all together. I usually do one of the single serve cups of yogurt, half a banana, maybe 2 tablespoons of peanut butter and then sprinkle some oats on top (i bought some bulk from Whole foods but I'm sure you can use whatever) then mix it all together. I usually only give them about 1 or 2 tablespoons each maybe 2 or 3 times a week since its a treat so it lasts a nice while between the two. I just try to use it before the end date on the yogurt. You could also add some pumpkin too, they liked it but not as much as without.
