| You guys are starting to rub off on me. Got out of the car with Chewie and the family, and a guy said Oh my goodness! What kind of a dog is that?! Told them a yorkshire terrier, and he said is that a mini, I mean teacup. I heard hubby say under his breath oh, here we go. I said, actually, there isn't any such thing as a teacup or a mini. These are a toy breed that on average can be between 3 and 8 pounds, but are many yorkies over or under those weights. A teacup is something a breeder of ill repute does to jack up the prices. I got the are you going to do that EVERY time routine. I said, yep, unless it's like that moron who told me I didn't have a "real" yorkie, as he paid 5k, because his mom was a "half" teacup... despite the fact the yorkie was around 15-17 pounds. Then I won't. But, yeah, I'll educate any one that says something. Last edited by JennaPenny; 05-25-2016 at 04:29 PM. Reason: Keeping my husband and daughter's name off Internet. |

| You go girl lol, educate no such thing as a TEACUP yorkie......I get the "he's so big is his mixed" (Cody is 12lbs,my last girl weighed in at 17 lbs so I am use to this lol) So I go into my routine "standard is 5 to 7 lbs, some are over standard some are under, but a yorkie is a yorkie no matter what their weight is" lol

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | LOL, this reminds me of me the first few years, we took Joey everywhere, and I got so sick of the teacup comments. Then I'd also get the reverse, my 5 pound Joey would be called a regular Yorkie, and they would call their new 3 pound puppy a teacup and tell me how expensive it was. Talk about holding your tongue! I heard myself one day in Home Depot explaining the difference, and I thought, "never again", I'm sick of "educating" people! Now, I will only say something if I know someone well or they are planning to get a Yorkie.
