| Belly Bands Hello, I am having a marking issue. My older neutered male started marking about the time I believe my Yorkie intact male started to mature. Now it is like dualing pee. I am using belly bands and s friend told me to us baldder control pads and they work great. I just worry about them causing health issues. The pads are made to hold urine and keep people dry and it is doing the same for the pups but will using them everyday cause any harm to my pups? I never had this issue before with marking. Thank You |

| I do not have experience with belly bands, but I imagine that it is like a baby with diapers: change often if used and clean/dry their skin to prevent skin problems. Give them adequate opportunity to potty too.

| I have used belly bands on my males for at least 25 years....never had a single issue. I use thick pads that wick the urine away from the skin, so they stay essentially dry....the pads I am using now, last my boys 6-8 hours....I take the pad off when they go outside about every 4-6 hours....they do their business, I bring them in and wash off their penis/tummy area and dry it well, then I put the pad back on if it is still essentially clean and dry...never put a wet nasty pad back on! At night when everyone is ready for bed, some of my males are left to run around the den....they are washed up again, dried well, I use a medicated powder "down there" and replace with a new clean, dry pad for the night. The males that are crated overnight, do not wear a belly band.....they have a Clorox bottle wrapped in a pee pad and placed in their crate, which they pee on during the night. |

| Thank you so much for the information. I do keep him very clean and the pads do stay dry and he stays dry. Now that my fractured elbow is healing and the weathr is getting better I will take him out more but I use puppy pads for the yorkies and they basically go out to get fresh air and walk aroud the yard with me. I take them on a leash one at a time but we are hoping to build a 10 by 10 pen for them to play in. We will have a cover on it and they will only be out there when we are out there. I am very careful about keeping my pups safe. |
