| too hot? sorry, this board is faster moving, and I'm hoping I get a response tonight. She had her bordatella vaccine. She's perfect- so far. eating, playing, running, wanted to go on walk. She's really warm. I have no way of gauging a fever. It isn't too too warm, but it's warm enough on her belly and chest for me to ask. I can't decide if it's from the bordatella (yes, she got the shot) or if she's mildly dehydrated. Are luke warm cloths to the chest alright? I just want to get her body heat down. Her mouth is NOT dry, and she's just as inqusitive and playful as usual. She takes a few naps during the day, and will be a little energizer bunny from 3-11, so all in all normal behavior. |

| Personally, I'd call my vet, just to be reassured, hopefully, that everything is fine! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Yes, you could do cloths...or splash some cold water on her belly lightly, or stand w/ her in front of a fan to cool her down. Is she cooler this morning?

| Dogs have higher normal body temperatures than humans. When my boys rest in one spot for a period of time, they feel almost like a heating pad to me. Dogs will usually pant if they are too warm. That is how they cool down. The inner side of the ear flap is often a good way to tell if they are too warm. My boys' ears are often warm to the touch during walks or heavy physical activity in warm weather. That is normal. But if they are resting in the house, not in the sun, the ear flaps are cool to the touch.

| Sorry!!! I've been on my ipad most of the day, and my email isn't updated as often as I'd like! She was fantastic this morning. She was especially happy that all of her humans were home today. She got three walks- we've been increasing them in anticipation of potty training outside- and she played a lot, too. she was pretty over heated to me, but after hearing the explanation about how it was normal, I feel a bit better. I DID put her in front of the fan, and it helped a ton. I tried the damp cloths, but she tried to eat them, lol. Thank you so much for the replies!!! |
