| New member looking for referral Hello Yorkie Community. This is my first day as a member. As a Christmas gift, my husband has promised to get me my long awaited Yorkie. However, I am very anxious about a reputable breeder in the Tri-State area (NJ, NY, CT). Would anyone be kind enough to recommend one? My second question is for anyone who ot a puppy delivered from a breeder too far to visit. How was that experience adn would you recommend considering exploring that route as well? Thank you in advance for welcoming me. Sabrina |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I would recommend a more distant breeder if they are truly excellent breedrers and you can get recommendations. Have you looked at YTCA.org yet for show breeders? They will often fly their pups in cabin for a reasonable fee.

| It depends on your budget, sometimes traveling a bit to have a pup is worth it from a reputable breeder. I would recommend reading the questions to ask that are on here. Good luck :-) I am in NY and have just put a deposit with a YT reco breeder for my second yorkie this spring. My first yorkie was also out of state and my husband drove to get her. I am on long island. You can always message me too if you have questions. |

I was a longtime lurker here and signed up last week for the same reason and I'm also searching in the same area. The breeder of my first four unfortunately retired after 37 years last summer. I found that there seems to be a lot of sketchiness in the PA area, it seemed like the pups were coming from a mill or not being taken care of, i.e. in kennels outside or no health guarantee. After digging I found this link: Watchung Mountains Yorkshire Terrier Club It's the Watchung Mountain Yorkie club and their list of referred breeders. Not sure how up to date it is, which I'm finding with most websites that list these little sweethearts, but I have read a lot of excellent referrals for the gent Tom Becker of Wingold. I've also read a bunch of nice things about Keith Turpin, who I emailed today to see if he has an intel. I don't have any experience having one delivered with a nanny service. I really would prefer to go and be able to see the surroundings and the parents which is how my old breeder operated. I'm even willing to make a trip and drive a good amount of mileage. I wish you luck, I think it's very cool that you're eager but being so smart about it! I can say that any time spent and waiting will be very much worth it, these little squirts are positively amazing. Let's hope some others in these very cool forums can chirp out some info for us and if I hear/find any leads I promise I'll come back and share with you! Best of luck and wishes - I look forward to seeing pictures of your baby in the near future! | |

| Hi Sabrina, THere are many breeders of Merit that would have suitable pups. ALl I can speak from my my personal experience. I live in Northern California and bought my second pup from Deb Sillers at Amazing Yorkies. She has an excellent reputation as a breeder of Merit from the AKC. My little girl is gorgeous! Deb gives preference to homes that plan on showing dogs but if you are looking for a pet- she has beautiful babies that are actually very reasonably priced. SHe now lives in Oregon but will ship pups that are old enough and healthy enough to do so. But My suggestion is for you to fly and pick up your baby. She was still in Missouri when I got my little girl and the flight was under 400. Look her up and see what the closest airport to her is. Perhaps she will meet you at the airport? It's worth a try. No one would deny the quality of her dogs. Her website is Amazing Yorkies - AKC Yorkie Show Breeder - Show Prospects or Quality Pets but Deb has been having some health issues and hasn;t updated in in quite awhile. Calling the number listed is a much better way. Good luck and congratulations. Your life is getting ready to change for the better. Paula
