Another Question about Ears Gizmo will be 12 weeks Wednesday. He had his ears shaved 10 days ago to see if his ears would stand up, no such luck. He has a vet visit tomorrow, guess we will tape his ears. My questions is : should we tape them now or give them some more time to come up on their own? My husband said one of them was standing up the other day, I did not see him, but he shook his head and it fell back down. When he runs across the floor they will go up, then fall down. What to do?

My Midori was 12wks when I got her from the breeder. Her ears were not standing too good on their own. The breeder showed me how to tape them and we did it together that night before I took her home. When I took the tape off, her ears were standing and have been ever since, but I do keep them trimmed and she is only 15wks right now! (the breeder said she had arleady done it once herself though) If you do tape them be ready for lots of crazy questions from everyone and their brother when you take your puppy out in public I guess I don't really know if it was a good age to do it, but it worked!

I think taping them now will give you look you want sooner and that way you aren't thinking about wether they will ever stand up or not. I taped my girl's ears when she was 10 weeks. She was just fine. They did flop when she was teething for aq long time, I was so worried but good thing they stood right back up after that phase.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I'm no expert - but both my girls ears went up and down - Some yorkies had ears that are set a little lower on their heads as babies - and it seems these are the ones whos ears don't stand as well - do you have a picture of him ? The ears can stand on their own pretty much up to 6 months ...If you decide to tape them great - but 12 weeks is still pretty young..... |

Can they be standing up at too early of an age. My 11 week old's ears were up when I first picked her out (6weeks). They are still standing and I did trim them already so the hair wouldn't weight them down. I was just curious it this is too early. My 2 year olds were not up at this young age, but they did stand up and she has never had a problem. Telea & girls, Zoe' and Mia
