and I will soon be a Nana to my Rosie's pups. I'm not a breeder, just a lover of my babies. Not knowing she was in heat, the next door neighbor dog came for a play date. He is less than 3 lbs and Rosie is 3.5 lbs. Needless to say, I walked in on them and was devastated! Long story short, she's due in November. My questions is, when Romeo came over to play, he brought fleas instead of roses....what can I put on my expecting baby to combat these creatures? thank you in advance.....

We just found a new product that is all natural and works amazing. A friend told me about using it to keep bugs out of telephone poles, thus keeping woodpeckers from destroying the poles. Its all essential oils. I thought, no way, but I met with the manufacture, and he gave us some to try on our shelter dogs. I took it to our shelter, and put 2 drops on a dogs collar, the fleas all jumped off. They didn't die, but the left in a hurry. We are thinking about brining this is as part of our company to help more shelters.

If you email your address, info@piddleplace.com I am happy to send you a sample. Looking at nothing but essential oils, I would love to ask everyone here why this works so good. There are crystals to put in your yard, sachets for dog beds, and drops for a dog collar. All non-toxic and environmentally friendly.

Woah may I ask what it is? I can talk to my parents about buying it my Teddy struggles with fleas that ran away from the medicine onto his lower back and I just gave him a flea bath hoping it worked

It is a blend of diatomaceous earth and essential oils. It confuses fleas, ticks and even ear mites and they jump off the animal. I send some to a school that had problems with lice, and it worked on kids as well...: )

Its not available on the market yet, the manufacture came to me to see if we could use it in the pet industry, so I guess I will ask people here on YT for comment.

The manufacture is a big supporter of shelters, so it seems a good match for our company. The dogs people bring to our shelters are often covered with fleas and ticks, and the only option we had at our shelter was a pill that works but it is absorbed by the liver, and can have side effects for puppies and elderly dogs, so this should be a great option. I see the downside is that the fleas jump off, but don't die. So I would love feedback from everyone on this.

Which EOs are in this product might make it easier to discern its safety for small animals and pregnant dogs?

Pennyroyal (Hedeoma pulegioides), for instance, is widely used as flea control. This oil is a known abortifacient in humans, and considered a toxin to the liver and the kidneys. Not exactly a strong selling point, although it is very good at keeping fleas at bay!

I would have this unfortunate situation terminated, especially since it was "not planned" . This baby girl is too tiny.....especially in circumstances where breeding Yorkies is not planned. If the parents have any large dogs behind either one of them in their pedigree, you can very easily loose this tiny unfortunate female. Think of HER well being first and foremost and terminate this pregnancy, then have her spayed....it is still early in the pregnancy and can be done effortlessly.

I would be seeing your Vet about the fleas and the mummy to be. Your Vet can xray to see the size of the pups and if you should let her go through with the pregnancy and then a spaying would be in order, then her play dates would be with out worry. Maybe your friend could help you with the fleas since she gave you the gift, there will be lots of cleaning and washing around the house to get rid of them.
