| Pup It seems that you are going to get this pup. Hope you will go pick him/ her up and check everything out while there. Read contract carefully and if it were me, I would do my own vet check in FLA! You don't want to find a problem back in NY. Please consider getting good health insurance ASAP before any health issue happens. Many hereditary issues can come up later in life and can be very expensive. If you need info on insurance we at YT can help you with that. Good luck |

| Insurance Glad to hear you are thinking of getting insurance. In my view, Trupanion and Healthy Paws are great companies. I have Trupanion with zero deductible and it pays 90% of covered costs. Very happy with them and I have used it a lot!! HP s is pretty similar but the good thing with this company is that they levy the deductible per year and not per illness. If you have zero deductible it does not matter, but if you want a lower premium and higher deductible, HP s would be a better bet. One thing with HPs is that they can raise premiums with age, but Trupanion does not. They only increase if the vets in the area charge more than normal in your area. I have only had one increase in six years. Please look carefully at coverage. The initial vet report you get is very important as any pre existing conditions the dog has will not be covered! That is why getting the insurance while the pup is young and disease free is essential. You may get a discount for two pups? Good luck. |

| I wish you much luck with your new puppy, but I am curious, as a fellow New Yorker, why you did not find a breeder within the Tri-State area? While many on this site tout using the YTCA (Yorshire Terrier Club of America), I know one person who got a dog from a breeder on that list and her dog passed at a young age and she was very unsatisfied with the breeder. So, while it is not a fail safe, one of the breeders listed on the site for the NY area is Pamela Langstein. Also, I know someone who got a puppy from Claudia Pierro of Castleford Yorkies and Maltese and she was VERY HAPPY. I know that Ms. Pierro was not only a member of YTCA, but she used to be the President of the the Watchung Mountains Yorkshire Terrier Club in New Jersey. So, if you do not have a final commitment with this breeder, maybe you could look into contacting either of them? Anyway which way you go, I hope and pray you get a happy, and most importantly a HEALTHY, puppy which brings you joy for many years to come. Cheers... Quote:

| Anytime I hear someone mention flying their dog in cargo I cringe. I purchased a pup for my mother 5 years ago. We live in MI, pup came from broker in CA (pre YT didn't even know what a broker was) Anyway this poor girl is scared to death at any loud noise. Thunder makes her shake for hours. I know she was traumatized from being sent on the plane and has never gotten over it. I was ignorant to agree to such a thing and anyone who would do it cares nothing about the welfare of the dog. |

| If you think this breeder could possibly be a broker I would run the other way. My Ollie came from one and he has horrible LP's, both knees and Chari. |

| My first Yorkie was sent to me on plane 5 years ago and she luckily was fine. This current breeder I'm in talks with did say she really prefers I Pick her up which I'm leaning towards doing. Quote:

| The information I have on these breeders is a couple of years old, so I don't know how current it is, but if not you can always Google their names. Nor, do I know their prices. Pamela Langstein's website is: Home Page Claudia Pierro's website is: Castleford Yorkshire Terriers & Maltese: Hobby Breeder, Claudia Pierro Again, much luck... Quote:
