Potty training not so well We started Addie and Raider on training to go outside on their 4th (month) birthday. Things were going well for about a week, with only a couple of accidents. Then the rain started and it hasn't let up. Our original plan was to take them out at 8PM, midnight and at 6-7AM. Something about going out at midnight in the rain and wind, thunder and lightening and the tornado warning sirens going off. We have gone backward a few steps. We have been using the Potty Training Puppy Apartments and have dispensed with the pee pads. There is a plastic tray under the PTPA and Addie and Raider will not allow a pee pad to stay put for more than about 5 seconds. They will drag it into their bed whether they have used it or not. We just got tired of dealing with 20 shreaded pee pads every day. It's much easier to clean up the tray and they don't seem to care one way or the other. I put several thicknesses of cardboard under the end where their beds are and let gravity keep the pee from running under their beds. The rain is supposed to let up for a few days, so maybe we can get back on a schedule. We're too old for this!

When my little guy would shred the pee pads, I started taping them down, white good packing tape. If he tried to scratch at the tape I then put a small dab of tabasco sauce on the corners of the pad and he would never shred the pad again. He would just go pee on it and wouldn't bother trying to play with it.

If your need for pee pads continue there are trays made for pee pads. I use them and it puts an end to the shredded pads.
