Where do yall give the shot at i give it in theneck area but he squels and fights? I have had 2 rat terriers they didnt even hardly moved . Thanks for info

I let my vet give single shots of what-ever vaccine I want to have done.

Shoot if someone tried to give me a shot in the neck I'd fight them too

. I've seen most vets give it in the leg/thigh area. Seems like it's the places with the most muscle/fat.

Do you have a vet that you can ask where they usually give it? I just asked a vet tech and they said they give it subcutaneously also. Seems like just like in humans different shots are given in different places.

You need to let your vet give the injections....you can end up with an abcess if you give a shot incorrectly. The most common place for sub Q injections IS the area right above the front legs/neck area....are you giving the injections with the bevel up? Are you using sharp needles? Let your vet do your shots if you are having problems....dont just swing around and give a shot someplace else or IM when subQ is indicated....you think you are having issues giving a subQ injection, just try shooting that baby intramuscularly!!!

I am sorry but I just have to say something here....
These are shots you are giving to a dog to keep it disease free. It is IMPERATIVE you are giving the correct vaccination, stored at the correct temp, at the correct age, in the correct site, via the correct route in order for your dog to be properly vaccinated. THIS is why people buy puppies that "have been vaccinated" and then they come down parvo and die!!!

My next question is what vaccine are YOU giving at 6 months of age???? The core vaccines should have already been given/completed, and I know of one State that allows the owner to give rabies shots and I could NOT believe that!!!

You can NOT safely just take the attitude "Oh OK, I will try that next"....this is NOT a trial and error activity!!! If you get a vaccine injected into a vein, you ARE aware it can and probably WILL kill your dog?

For the dogs sake and the safety of the public, let a professional, a vet, give your shots....this does require a modicum of knowledge about how to give an injection. Take you dog to the vet, spring for the $$$$ for the vaccinations, and consider it the cost of doing business or the cost of owning a dog.

three shots at 3 week interval one at 4week interval and one at 6 months of age and then the one at 1 year.Giving the 5 in 1 i did my other two dogs with no problem. And the breeder gave the first before i got him.

Starting at 8 weeks old, every four weeks, 8-12-16-20 weeks old is 5 months old....Vanguard Plus starts at 8 weeks and every 3 weeks, 8-11-14, and series is completed.....Rabies at 6-8 months old.......

You got your pup before 8 weeks so any shots he got from the breeder he got to young and were useless.

I just gotta say...*please* be very careful and make sure you are trained in this. Look, my bach degree is in Nursing, for petes sake, so I have a lot of shot experience -- but even so, I will not give my fur kids their shots myself...one reason alone is that they usually react WAY differently when a vet gives a shot vs Mom or Dad giving a shot.
