| grooming questions This week was the first time the baby was groomed. Since it was my first time too i should have been more detailed with her grooming. I wanted a standard puppy cute, but also I thought she would clip inside her ears and under her pads. I told her to go easy on her the first time, but come on. It cost 20 dollars. Is it rude to be more detailed of what you want your groomer to do. I just figured they know the breed, but maybe im wrong. |

| I'm not sure exactly what you were not satisfied with. What was actually done? $20.00 for bath and haircut is really reasonable. Generally grooming should include trimming pads as needed, cutting nails, sanitary trimming, cleaning ears (also plucking excess hair comming up from the ear canal if needed), bath, and a haircut if requested . If you went to a "petsomething" rather than a grooming salon you definitely need to be more specific as their services are often priced 'al-a-carte'. As far as shaving yorkie ear tips it is usually owner preference and you should probably have mentioned it to them. The term "puppy cut" is not really a real name for a haircut so I would just describe what you want to the groomer. Better yet look for pictures of cuts you like and take them with you next time. The groomer may have done very little because, like you said, it was the puppy's first time. It is not rude to be specific with the groomer. Even though there are standard breed specific haircuts, like for a schnauzer, yorkies are cut in lots of different ways and it is really owner preference.

| private groomer I think 20 dollars is a perfect fee for a private groomer. Its a very reputable groomer. I just have to get to know her a little better to tell her what I want done with her next time. Your right, a standard puppy cut is what i asked for. Better grooming next month. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | 20 is CHEAP !!! Wow - it's 35 where I live and I also wasn't thrilled with any groomers so I do both my girls now myself....it takes time and visits to find a good groomer - when you finally find one - feel lucky !! |

| $21 is about standard here. I think the 'westie cut' is sort of a puppy cut for yorkies. I would put it all in writing though. As Villette stated, I took mine in twice, never liked what they did (whatever they wanted), now I do mine myself. It is pretty scary at first, but I just use the small cordless shaver and it is very safe. I have never nicked anyone. It is a 'one-time' investment of about $20. If you do one grooming yourself, you have paid for your equipment.

| That is perfect! I know Kim has hers done at home. If I could afford it, I would probably give it a try. No place I went to would even let you watch - and they wanted to keep your babies for 4 hours. I thought it was rediculous and tortureous (if that is a word).
