| I feel like such a bad mother :( Im leaving for a week long vacation tomorrow with my family that I've had booked since last year. My new puppy was a surprise gift given to me about two weeks ago and she's become my world ever since. She's almost three months old so she's still very young. Im very sad that I have to leave her now for a week. She's staying at a good home and I know she'll be fine, but Im worried about her transition back to my home. I know this is her socialization stage so I don't want this to affect her negatively. I feel so terrible Does anyone else have experience or knowledge about this? |

| I think she's still so young she will be fine as far as bonding/socialization goes.. I would never encourage anyone to get a new puppy knowing that they are going away but since this wasn't planned - you can only do what you can do.. I think it would be a good idea to leave ER vet info and regular vet info with whoever is watching her whilst your gone and ensure that they know about hyperglycemia and the dangers of having such a little baby around i.e. jumping off things and being stepped on which can severely injure or kill even adult YT's. If you can't guarantee that the people you know are knowledgeable enough about the breed, etc (and many people wouldn't be), you may want to look at other options like vets which can watch them and which are open all night or check in on animals at night... Others may have more info on that type of thing. Good luck |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Awww...it will be okay, I'm sure! I know you're feeling so much guilt leaving her, and I'd probably feel the exact same way since I still feel guilty leaving my 4 babies, even though they're adults...I miss them so much! To make yourself feel a little better, just be sure to prepare whomever is caring for her...ie, hypoglycemia, caring for a puppy, caring for a very SMALL puppy, what to look for, etcetera...

| I think her socialization will be fine. Her potty training may have a set back but hopefully when you get back you can get her on track again. As long as you are good with the people who are watching her for you, just enjoy your vacation. |

YT 1000 Club Member | She will be just fine. Enjoy your vacation. Maybe they will send you pictures of her. Relax and know that she is well cared for and try to have fun. She will be so happy to see you when you get home. I dog sit for people sometimes (in my home) and the dogs are fine and they are so happy to see their people at the end of the vacation. I hope you are going someplace warm. I would love someplace warm right now.

YT 500 Club Member | I went on vacation three weeks after I got my puppy and he stayed at my house with my brother in law. He was just fine. It didn't even effect him. So I am sure your puppy will be fine too. |

YT 500 Club Member | Vacation I'm doing just about the same thing. I'll have My new pup for3weeks then off to Fl. I'm lucky cause I'm visiting my daughter so we are taking him with us. It's 700 miles so I'm worried how he will do in the car, how many times we should stop, where to stop that will be safe - he won't have all his shots when we go, feeding, playing, the list goes on with worry. This wasn't planned either. Your baby will be just fine at this early stage. I would really lay down the law with whoever will be the caregiver. Let them know how concerned you are. Have a wonderful safe time. |
