| no snuggles Anyone else have a pup that will not snuggle? My Ollie is about 14 weeks now. He will not snuggle at all. He will sleep next to me on the bed all night and sit at my feet during the day. He just refuses to touch me while sleeping. He will not sit still on my lap either. This is not to say that he is not affectionate with me. He loves to give kissies and is a total velcro pup. I hope maybe he will change over time. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | All dogs are so different...and they do/can change a bit over time - so your kiddo may just be more cuddly as he ages. Have you tried giving him massages yet? That can lead to some awesome cuddle time .

| My Duchess is the same way. She follow's me around and can be affectionate when wants it. But for the most part she is not a snuggler. She will tolerate moments of it but after a few minutes she is wiggling to get free. She does sleep in the bed with me but on her side of the bed with her pillow and blankie. She will occasionally cuddle up next to me but not all night. It depends on how chilly she is. So I basically just let her come to me when she is ready But when I need some Yorkie lovin, I have to chase her down. She runs under her chair to keep me from picking her up. She has gotten better though. When I first brought her home, she would even lay next to me on the couch. At least now she is doing that.....baby steps I guess. |

| Teddy was the same way as a puppy and now I can't get him away from me! 14 weeks is very young and they are still finding themselves and their role in the family. Don't be disheartened! Independence is a good thing, anyway! You don't want a clingy dog which presents its own set of problems! |

| He is good while I am gone. I have been raising him with the Ian Dunbar method. He has only had about 5 potty accidents. We have had him for about 3 weeks. He has definitely bonded to me. My dh is trying to steal him though. I think it is very funny since he has always said that he is certainly not a pet person. When I got Ollie, he would not even acknowledge him for the first week. Now he can not get enough of him. When Ollie cries, he is the first one to come running to see what is wrong with HIS new baby. He refers to him as his new beard cleaner. I often think that dh is a little extra messy eating just for the sake of his new buddy. |

| Cody was 2 1/2 y/o when i adopted him. I know he was allowed to sleep on the bed, but I don't think he was allowed to sleep next or near the the prev. owner, he would sleep on the pillow next to me. Every night I would pick him off the pillow and put him under the blankets next to me, he would scoot back to the pillow, every night it was the same procedure. After 10 months he crept onto my pillow, paws touching my head, I was in heaven, he was testing me. I was still putting him under the blankets. He slept for one month on my pillow, paws touching my head, then at the end of the 11th month he stayed under the blankets snuggled against me, that's when I knew he really knew he was in his furever home. It's been 4 months now, he looks forward to going under the blankie, he stays and snuggles a short time, gets to hot, comes out and snuggles against me. 14 month old pup may get to warm with your body contact, they change as they get older. All my passed girls after puppyhood always slept on top of the blankets pressed up against my back or my legs, Ollie will too.

| He may be just going through an independent streak or hasn't established a full bond with you yet. Give him time and build his trust and he'll probably begin to seek you out. Cover yourself in his treats while down on the floor on his level if you want him to want to learn to approach and crawl on you, stay pretty quiet at first while he does this, as he learns he can trust being on and near you - and besides, you come with good things he likes - so he'll begin to associate being on/near you with pleasant things & good times.
