| collar or harness? I'm about to get a yorkie and i've been reading around. I"m kind of confused. Whats the difference of using the collar or harness when they're being or walked? I've always had BIG dogs and this will be my first little one. So which one is better for what? do i make sense?! |

| You make sense. Yorkies can have problems with their tracheas - it's called Collapsing Trachea - so you don't want to put any pressure on their throats. A harness is the way to go. Welcome to YT.

| Oh you'll just loooove your new little baby... You definitely want to go for the harness...yorkies are so tiny and fragile...you'll want to protect your baby any way you can. Good luck...do you have a name picked out yet? |

| Just wanted to add - if you feel you need a collar to keep ID tags on, a lot of people buy cat safety collars. If the collar gets caught on anything they come apart preventing strangulation.

| Gus has both but he only wears his color because of his tags. But we only attach his leash to a harness.

| I would definitely only use a harness on your new pup. using a collar can put undue pressure on their little necks. Good luck! |

Dublin wears a cat breakaway collar with a bell on it. That way I always know where he is. (When its quiet I investigate!) I tried putting one on Widget, but Dublin always yanks it off.
