I'm about to get a yorkie and i've been reading around. I"m kind of confused. Whats the difference of using the collar or harness when they're being or walked? I've always had BIG dogs and this will be my first little one. So which one is better for what?
do i make sense?!

You make sense. Yorkies can have problems with their tracheas - it's called Collapsing Trachea - so you don't want to put any pressure on their throats. A harness is the way to go.

Oh you'll just loooove your new little baby...
You definitely want to go for the harness...yorkies are so tiny and fragile...you'll want to protect your baby any way you can.

Just wanted to add - if you feel you need a collar to keep ID tags on, a lot of people buy cat safety collars. If the collar gets caught on anything they come apart preventing strangulation.

Gus has both but he only wears his color because of his tags. But we only attach his leash to a harness.

I would definitely only use a harness on your new pup. using a collar can put undue pressure on their little necks.

Pippa wears a collar with all our details on but i attach lead to a harness when we go walkies.

[COLOR=Red]Definitely ONLY a harness . . .. Tiger's tag is attached to his harness as it cumbersome for him to have both a harness and a separate collar just to hold his tag . . . I got his harness at Walmart for only $3 something and have been really happy with it. I have also tried the one petsmart and petco carries but eventually went back to the walmart harness as they work better for me and Tiger. I don't like too much fu-fu on him being that he is a boy

Last spring one of our YT members lost her baby when her collar got caught on something, so I'm afraid of them.

Dublin wears a cat breakaway collar with a bell on it. That way I always know where he is. (When its quiet I investigate!) I tried putting one on Widget, but Dublin always yanks it off.
