| Lexi trying to "dominate" new puppy? HELP! I had a thread earlier about play fighting, but after doing some more research I have some further questions. I brought home Parker (Shih Tzu) a couple days ago. He is 9 1/2 weeks old. Lexi (8 1/2 months old)immediately wanted to play with him, but I was starting to get concerned with how she was playing. Sometimes they play great and even will drink out of the same water bowl at the same time with no problems. But while playing Lexi will growl and jump on Parker, and even when Parker submits by rolling or tries to get away, Lexi will not stop and will sometimes growl even louder. I read mixed things online about this and the vet just said to break them up if things seem to be getting out of control. I'm just worried that if this continues I will never be able to leave them together alone in the same room. Does anyone have any experience with this kind of behavior? I need help! |

| Forgot to mention... Most of the time it is Lexi that stars the play fighting. Parker will just be minding his own business and Lexi will start jumping at him trying to play. Sometimes Parker will initiate play, but tends to be Lexi more. And after Parker rolls on his back and Lexi doesn't get off Parker tends to get riled up and start growling and making sounds. Again, Lexi will not get off and looks like she is biting at his neck. When it gets to that point I always separate them. |

YT Addict | Princess my papilon who is three does the samething with my yorky boo. I also worry cause she some times does his neck too. But i happened to have my hand at boos neck when she got his neck and she barely touched it. Your pup may do what boo does fuss back even yelp to let your other dog know to back off. But they do growel while playing. Sometimes boo growels just as loud as princess. But they have a ball princess is bigger than boo so most of the time hes on his back with her standing over him. But he will get up and they take off running. Last edited by Graneet; 09-08-2014 at 10:38 PM. |
