Yorkie Talker | What care is needed after Neutering?? We are getting our two dogs Neutered Thursday. My question is how much care is needed the day after? I had planned on taking the day after off from work too but now my boss wants me to work. Will they be okay at home alone? They both stay in their cages during the day.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | They really do snap back fast, it's amazing. He will likely be groggy the first nigh home. MAKE SURE you come home w/ pain meds and give them, no matter what. He should be okay alone the next day...I'd put a onesie on him so that he doesn't lick the incision. Neither of my boys bothered their incision at all though, so we didn't even need the onesie.

Senior Yorkie Talker | Are they having sutures? Mine had internal sutures and glue only on outer side so u couldn't even see a scar! Nothing needed not even a cone. They can't mess with something they don't see. |

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Not sure about need for a cone, but just make sure their territory is restricted around the house. The main thing you don't want is sutures ripping open because they jump off the couch. If you're not going to be home, consider setting up an X-pen where they can't get in any trouble.
