| New with Questions Hello Everyone. I am new to the boards. I have a question or 2. I am considering adopting a yorkie and may consider breeding her a time or 2. Does anyone here breed parti colors? Or is the non traditonal yorkies frowned upon on this site? Thanks |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hi and WELCOME! I'm not sure if we currently have any parti breeders on the board right now...we do have some Biewer breeders though. I can speak for myself in that I don't frown on Parti colored yorkies...plus, I own one - my girl Pfeiffer has the parti coloring.

| The best thing to do if you want to breed is find a reputable breeder you can shadow and to mentor you and then earn there respect so you can breed a dog from from there lines that they have worked extremely hard to create and normally don't give breeding rights out. You also won't know if a puppy is breeding quality until they mature. A female under 5 pounds should not be bred. It's so important you watch several whelps to know what each and every little sign of distress is so you can get her help if she shows one otherwise you could lose her and the pups. You also need to realize she could reject the puppies it does happen then you need to feed the puppies every 2 hours and do EVERYTHING the mom does like keep them warm, stimulate them to go potty and clean them. There is also testing that should be done that your regular vet can not do. Most breeders do not even break even and doing it right is very expensive. The only real reason to breed is to better the breed. Breeding is a very serious thing and should not be taken lightly.

| I forgot to comment on Parti's. I don't think we as a board have one big got to be this way about Parti's opinion, I think we just all have our own opinions as a person. I am not sure where I stand with Parti's at this time. I do know I absolutely do not agree with the breeding of yorkies to make chocolates or Goldens. I know sometimes reputable breeders accidentally have them and that's fine but breeding just for them is wrong in my opinion because breeding should be done to better the breed and breeding a dog with a fault on purpose is not breeding to better the breed. With Parti's though I'm still not sure. I know the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America which is the mother club of yorkies which I greatly respect is against them so as I try to for my opinion I keep that in mind.

| Hi & welcome! This is a great place to learn all about the yorkie breed. They are wonderful little dogs! I just wanted to caution you to think very carefully before deciding to breed. There are many things that can and DO go wrong, and it can be very risky for the mom & pups. Years ago I thought I wanted to breed. After lots of research I realized I did not have the time, knowledge, or financial resources needed to do it the right way. I would suggest reading & learning all you can on the breeder boards. If you still think you want to breed, it's vital to find a reputable breeder to help and mentor you. As for Parti yorkie's, I'm sure there are many differing opinions on them. I personally think they are beautiful, and would love to have one!
