| Opinions on dexter's new hair cut Hi, I'm new, I just wanted to get some peoples opinions on my 5 month old yorkies new hair, it was sort of a spur of the moment type thing his adult coat was starting to grow out and he was struggling with the heat and we are also taking him on holiday with us where it would be rather sandy and I didn't want him to feel uncomfortable with the heat and the sand in his coat so I decided to get him shaved rather short, but I don't know if I like it or not, what does everyone else think? |

| He looks cute....love his tail. I felt sorry for mine in the heat and watching them panting because they were so hot I went for the short haircut too. Welcome to Yorkie Talk.

| He looks adorable! Sand is tough to get out of a long coat, and since Dexter was hat, you made a good choice. It will grow back quickly. |

Yorkie Yakker | He does look adorable. My little Bella (profile pic) is 3 months old now. I'm confused about when to have her cut for the first time and also how to tell when the adult coat is starting to appear. Would that be the color change or change in the texture of her hair. I do keep the hair around her backside and eyes short. |

Yorkie Yakker | He looks totally adorable. How did you know he's adult coat was starting to show? Did his hair start to change color or did the texture change? My Bella (profile pic) is 3 months old and I'm a bit confused as to when I should have her cut for the first time. I keep the hair around her eyes and backside short though. |

| Hi, welcome to Yorkie Talk. Dexter is adorable and I like his hair cut. You will find that it is so much easier to keep them in a shorter coat. I especially like a short coat in the summer months then I let the coat grow out a little for the winter months.

| His face sort of looks like a schnauzer. Especially with the floppy ears. LOL Magnus get that sometimes too depending on how he's cut. Some ppl used to ask me if he was a Schnauzer mix. Your Dex is just too cute! Love that the tail is still there. Wish my Zoey's tail weren't docked.... |

| Thanks for the nice responses he's only been clipped a day so far and already he looks so much better in himself running around like a right lunatic and it nice not to have to spend ages everyday picking twigs and grass out of his coat |

| He is so cute and sporty looking.... Ready for adventure. I wanted to mention that even though he doesn't need brushing much with short hair, it is a good idea to do a little brushing anyway with a soft brush to keep him used to it, in case you grow the hair longer later. I keep my pups all short on their bodies, but a little longer on face, head and legs. I've been walking them at the beach lately and the sand really sticks in the hair, so they need a bath after each walk, also to get salt water off. Being at the beach sure is fun though.
