I would like to get a little friend for Trixie. While we have her big sis Jewel since she is 5 5 lbs they can't really play and when jewel has a friend Trixie is left out. Besides I really want another...can't stop looking!

I have a feeling I should get another female. ..boys make me nervous. Will a little boy still want to lift his leg and potty because females are around even if neutered?

Or will Trixie be jealous of another girl? She rules the roost and is the center of our lives.

My boys do not lift their legs in the house. Outdoors, they do.

There is no gender combination that is best. I believe it all comes down to the individual dogs and their home environment. My boys are both very strong personalities. Neither one is the least bit submissive, a combo that is supposed to be difficult. But they get along wonderfully.

Hi, while I can't answer the question if a neutered male will mark if female lives in the house, I can tell you my experience with older female ruler of house accepting another female. Female #1 not spayed 3 y/o (never breed) I felt she needed a play mate while I was at work, soooo, off I went and got a baby girl, I can't # 1 was thrilled and excited over this, but, with in a few months when the baby was able to jump on and off the sofa, # 1 had no choice but to accept her new sister. #2 I also did not have spayed (stupidly on my part) also never breed her, they got along fine, now there were 2 rulers of the house. 3 years later I ran across a lil baby girl, not planning on getting another baby, but it was love at first sight, soooo, home she came with me. So now I have a 6 y/o girl, a 3 y/o girl and now baby jaws. Again the 2 older ones were not happy or thrilled over this new comer with teeth like "Jaws" so off to higher grounds both went, the sofa. Again when the baby was able to jump on and off sofa, both older girls had no choice but to accept this pain in their butt. This lil girl I had spayed, all 3 got along fine, never a growl between them, never a fight, their food bowls were lined up together, never a fight over food or stealing of food. Call me lucky IDK. All 3 were leash walked together 2 times a day, no fights. Were they perfect? Yes. I would haveto say it depends on the temperament of your dog. Pup # 1 was spoiled rotten, but as sweet as could be, pup #2 was just as spoiled and just as sweet, and the baby was the most spoiled my the older 2 and myself. That's my experience is having all females accepting new females. Also when the 2 un-spayed ones came into season their temperaments never changed, they were always sweet loving lil girls with each other. Good luck on your discussion.

Well we went to see a little boy that the family was looking to rehome today but Trixie did not like him. He was 3 and not neutered and was all up in her privates. I felt really bad and pray he finds a good home...the lady was expecting her 5th son any day.

I think it might be best to get a female or at least a male puppy that we will neuter. That way he maybe won't start out trying to molest her.

To bad this 3 y/o was so personal with lil Trixie, adopting is so rewarding. Is your lil Trixie spayed? If not a female is much safer. Good luck on your quest in finding Trixie the perfect play mate, 2 yorkies, double the fun.

Yes Trixie is spayed and is a little under 5lbs. I got her to love and spoil not breed.
She is my baby and i wont get one that upsets her that much.

Galen doesn't lift his leg in the house. . . He doesn't lift his leg outside. . . He still squats ! Males are a little more lovey the. Females.

My little Huey started lifting his leg before he was 4 months old and despite having him neutered at 6 months, will not skip any opportunity he has to mark something. I have to put a belly band on him in order to visit friends because although he has potty pads at home and mostly uses those (occasional mishaps do occur), at new places, he is out of control if not watched like a hawk, hence the belly bands. I'm just putting this out there. I realize that a large part of this is my poor training, but I have never seen a dog lifting his leg as early as this one did.
